Thank you for making such a good video. My model has the same problem. I have watched many clips on KZbin. This clip presents it in great detail and provides easy-to-understand instructions. Another problem with this model is that the hinges are stiff and need to be adjusted.
@ItsBinhRepaired2 ай бұрын
Don't adjust the hinges. They're designed that way to hold the screen up. If you loosen them it'll flop over when moving around. The reason they feel so stiff is because the lack of leverage with the narrow hinges.
@coryscomputerrepair Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your detailed video, had one of these, a little intimidating but your video helped me get through it. Especially the ribbon cables. One thing to mention is some replacement screens come with the touch screen digitizer controller, so you really only need to disconnect the single touch screen display cable on the right hand side and the display ribbon cable on the back side. Then you can leave the two brown colored ribbon cables connected to the old digitizer and simply pull out the monitor and old digitizer and set aside and install the new digitizer and lcd screen.

so it seems! I've received one broken on the same side, thankfully the screen hasn't broke yet, just found a slight discoloration on the corner and a slight popout from the plastic cover. Can´t believe that part of the hinge you glued is made of plastic, bad lenovo...
@ItsBinhRepaired Жыл бұрын
@the-mush it's a very common material choice. It's not so much the material that's the problem, but them trying to keep the bezel so thin that makes the hinge too narrow to support it.

Comment and a question here: 1. you should be able to disable the battery from the BIOS, it will disconnect it and automatically reconnect when you plug in AC power (might need external screen if you are like me) 2. I think I have a flex break, but my camera, mics, digitizer all work, but the screen is completely blank, doesn't show up in device manager, no display or backlight on BIOS splash screen etc. etc. etc. Do you think I just need a new panel? Will this come with a cable? Is there a trick to unplugging that big LVDS connector? Thanks!
@ItsBinhRepaired4 ай бұрын
Thanks for the support! If you disconnect the lvds cable you need to remove the batteries and hold the power button 15 seconds or you can fry the cable, screen, and/or the backlight circuit on the motherboard. If you're lucky it could be a loose connection to the screen or logicboard.

IMO, JB Weld isn't good enough to be considered an appropriate repair method for high-friction environments such as the one your hinges are exposed to daily by opening & closing the lid. In another 6 months to a year it'll most likely break again. To do it right it would of only cost you under $75.00 extra in parts.

Hi, very helpful video first of all! Apologies in advance for all the questions as this offers a lot of great solutions, I'd just like to confirm if JB Weld is the best option for this, as it's quite expensive importing to my area, and whether it's recommended to apply to both sides, as you've done so, even if only one of the hinges has come free? I'd imagine that makes sense so that the force distributes evenly when it's ready to be opened again, but I'd just like to be sure. Also, would I be able to forgo replacing the adhesive pull tabs, on the off chance they're mangled when pulled out? Thank you in advance.
@ItsBinhRepaired Жыл бұрын
If you don't plan to ever replace the screen, yeah, no need to worry about the adhesive strips. Jbweld the original steel one is the best I've come across. Not sure if there's something better out there.

Hi! Just finished the repair of the hinge of my laptop. I wasn't able to use JB Weld, same case as yours, it doesn't sell in my country. I used a generic epoxy glue that is sold in Brazil, it's called Araldite. Also tried others glues, none worked, just the epoxy one. Afterward, I add some adhesive tape pulling from the hinge to the screen housing. It worked really well. I don't think I will have problems with the hinge again. If I do, I think I will pierce the screen housing and use a screw nut to fix it to the hinge, this is the only permanent solution I can think about. I am I bit delayed, but I hope someone can make use of this comment, as I did of the video. Thank you, @ItsBinhRepaired!

Tip: You may discover that it's easier to disable the touchscreen from within the Windows environment via Control Panel/Device Manager/Human Interface Devices. Expand the Human Interface Devices section & disable the one in the list with 'Touchscreen' in its name, then reboot the laptop & it should be disabled moving forward.
