Actually great review. One thing I would recommend is using a close proximity mic of some sort. Your mic solution alone gives the video an "amateur" feel that the content most definitely doesn't deserve. Good job Also a question: I'm crazy about fan noise profiles (Razer blade high pitch whine being my absolute nightmare). In the video you're mentioning a healthy whoosh coming from the exhaust but what I hear is a horrible nasty "wheee" on top in the high mids. Is it just the mic being weird or...?

In terms of the pitch, its very minimal and only when stressing the system, while playing in the performance mode, its a level below what it is during the benchmark segment. I honestly would not worry, my main concern is really a negligible thing like the plastic keyboard deck.

Hi there! The L7 cost 2400, my friend bought a 3060 equipped L5P for 1050EUR, this is the best value honestly. Assuming the price will be the same in 3 years he will be able to buy the latest 4060/5060 and still be below the 3080 mrsp.

Still don't get their choice for a 16:10 screen though. There are 17" QHD 16:9 panels available which is better for gaming and video. I am still trying to decide which one to buy but after watching your review I will stick to Lenovo Legion 7 (when it will be available). The glass touchpad is a big factor for me, shame that it doesn’t also have an aluminum keyboard deck, it said it has one everywhere I read on the internet. I left this comment because I burst in laughter when I heard the fan noise comparison, then I looked at the number of subscribers and you truly do serve more. I have received my legion 7 yesterday and have noticed that the second ssd slot provides only 2 PCIe lanes limiting the drive to only 50% of its normal speed. Did anybody try the second slot yet ? Are you experiencing the same issue ? cheers

Great review. This might be the most complete ryzen laptop I have seen performance wise. Asus has 130w max, Alienware does not have 3080, others don't run max wattage possible. I wonder what would be the price. If they can stay below 3k for the top of the line model, and below 2k for the 3070, I believe this won't be in stock until 2022.

In my eyes yes, also in BIOS you are limited to a max +100 OC thus no issues whatsoever.

What is the DCI P3 color gamut coverage ? I found it from another reviewer. It’s 73% DCI P3 and 70% Adobe RGB. This is the only big minus of this laptop when working with Photoshop, Da Vinci Resolve and Premier Pro and Lightroom and Capture One Pro. Since it’s important to me, I have to go with Alienware M15R5 with QHD (240 Hz and 99% DCI P3). Color accuracy is more important than a slightly larger screen size

BUT... you can't test cpu/gpu performance and thermals just by playing a each game for 10 MINS dude, lol You need to have them going for AT LEAST,... 2-3 hours. But other than that.... Great vid. I just ordered the Legion 7 AMD Ryzen 7 with RTX 3060. I'm not a gamer but love the aesthetics of this laptop! Needed a new windows laptop for trading, movie streaming, possible video editing, and just personal use. Took advantage of the extended cyber Monday discount of $360 + $100 off for first time customer at Lenovo site directly. Says 4 months + for delivery but read this can be updated by the carrier and typically came in 1-2 months for some. I guess anything is better than my 13" 2011 MacBook Pro. 😅

Especially when you have to repaste it multiple times (thermal grizzly Kryonaut seems to degrade quickly). The iCue software still is a drain on the battery so it had to go.

Loved your detailed comparison and explanation. Although I am not a gamer head, I am more from content creation side (motion graphics & 3D rendering). MBP (Mid 2015) has been my friend for the past 5+ years and now it is time to upgrade from Iris Pro to RTX/Quadro series laptops. Primary softwares will be Adobe suite + Blender/Cinema4D and may be some occasional gaming. So if you see from creators perspective, which one would you recommend - L5P or L7? I also have Asus Zenbook Pro Duo i7 3070 in mind but not so sure about its OLED panel in the long run (afraid of burn in from static elements of software UI)

Can you please update the BIOS to latest 36WW version, and test the Advanced Thermal Optimization option under BIOS configuration? I wonder if that affects the fan curve behavior. As you know, Legion cannot adjust fan RPM manually. So I would like to know if that option can do something with the fan curve before hitting thermal throttle, which max the fan anyways.

I purchased the Legion 7 with RTX 3070 and noticed a high pitched sound coming from the CPU/GPU or fans. Furthermore the fans never stop, even on Quiet Mode & Hybrid Mode they are spinning. Did you experience the same issues?

How did you check wattage consumption? I imagine if 5900HX + RTX3080 during stress test (with all this charismas lights on?) consume 260w, 5 Pro version with 3060 could definitely go with 230w. Yet, if it can manage Witcher 3 on 30fps under 100w I believe 100w charger should more more than enough for programing?

I checked at the wall with a an actual meter to ensure good results. For sure with 100w for programming it will be fine.

Depends on the country, but I think yes, you could get it in many places across E.U., I recommend to write an e-mail of intent to the company in your country, that is how I got mine.

Amazing video. Extremely informative... I'm based in UK at the moment, it's very tough to find, there's nothing in here at the moment. Do you know if there is somewhere in Europe that have this laptop? I don't want to wait until August, September to buy a laptop. This one looks great for my needs...
