You need to spot weld the four battery tabs to the existing battery and ditch the 2nd BMS Board. That way, the original BMS will re-calibrate the Full Charge Capacity to double the amount after a full discharge-charge cycle.

There are number of reasons: marketing, cost of the product, future-proofing, competition, readiness, development stage of the product. Next generation gona have better processor, different screen, etc..If competitors have 1.5hr work under the load, why should you release device twice as much? They have already released product with tons of features compare to competitor products, removable joypads, way larger screen....
@matthewwain9958Ай бұрын
If manufacturers were forward thinking enough, options like this would be available from the manacturer. Imagine them selling double sized batteries as an option and being able to sell a bigger cover etc. Docks that added additional cooling capacity so the machine could run faster whilst docked etc. They really don't think about this stuff as a way to make more money. p.s. Great job :)
@elnurmehdiyev5062Ай бұрын
@@matthewwain9958 they are focused on competition, that going to be next gen handhelds I'm pretty sure, just like ROG did.. ))
Ай бұрын
That's because they honor a warranty where the machine has NOT been opened. You open it, no warranty. Make sense? They don't want just anybody doing upgrades to their product and then have you expect to have a warranty, so of course they aren't going to sell that stuff. It's common sense, which most people don't have anymore.
@matthewwain9958Ай бұрын
You can open a product just fine and still have warranty. Stickers saying you can't are not legally binding. The manufacturer has to prove anything you did caused a failure, in order to get out of honoring a warranty. P.s. PC's are highly configurable and modular. Your comment really doesn't hold water.

You can just buy extra 10000mah LiPo cells or replace the current one. All you need to do is add extra cells until you can't get any more to fit inside the device. I've done something similar to my phone. from 5000mah it's now running 2000mah, just use the same BMS. Hope this helps

Cells used in GO rated to 3.88V, if you can find such specific batteries with larger capacity, please share, would be useful to others too. Cells with other voltages and chemistry would likely destroy your charging circuit or lead to early degradation of different voltage cells.

@elnurmehdiyev5062Ай бұрын
@@StuffIThink If you know what you're doing, anything is possible. In the worst case, you might need to get another battery. Here's how I would approach it: I recommend ordering two batteries. Start by disassembling one and carefully removing the black sticky tape. Check how the BMS board is attached to the cells and gently detach it to ensure you have enough contact points for spot welding extension tabbing wires. Be cautious not to short anything. Next, carefully cut the cover off the other battery to access the spot-welded contacts. Once you’ve spot-welded the extensions to the disassembled battery cells, solder them to the contacts of the second battery. Secure both the spot-welded and soldered contacts using Kapton tape, and attach the two batteries together with double-sided sticky tape. After removing the original battery from the handheld, place the upgraded battery inside and test it. If everything works and the handheld functions with the increased capacity, reapply the sticky tape to secure the battery and print a new back cover for the device. I'll soon update the back cover model with version 2, which will include plastic clips similar to the original design, as well as an improved layout. Be sure to double-check battery polarities and measure voltages before applying the mod. If there are differences in voltage, fully charge both batteries and then discharge them to about 3.88V before proceeding. For this upgrade, you'll need: Two identical batteries A spot welder A soldering station Kapton tape (5mm wide is fine) Hand tools and a multimeter Double-sided sticky tape (preferably flexible, similar to the original) Tabbing wire (3-5mm wide) A 3D printer (or service) to print the back cover You can find guides on disassembling the handheld and removing the battery on KZbin.

3.88 nominal voltage cells? Very bizzare choice, especially when space was not at a premium and the device was already a heavy, chunky boi. This increases costs, but gives it a higher capacity. I believe they are HP (high performance) cells that are more commonly used in cell phones. They have a max voltage of 4.48 (around there), instead of the typical 4.2 volts.

Hey buddy just curious, can you tell us which IC on this device specifically requires 3.88V to a point you need to get a battery that is putting out exactly 3.88V? Also there's a reason Lenovo left room inside and didn't cram it full of battery space, but hey, what would I know?
@elnurmehdiyev5062Ай бұрын
The specific IC you're referring to is part of Lenovo’s design approach, where they reuse components from their laptops to accelerate the product's development and release. This includes the power management circuitry, which is optimized for the same 3.88V cells commonly used across Lenovo devices. In my modification, I parallelled identical cells, effectively doubling the battery capacity while occupying the intermediate frame space, which was originally reserved for cable management. This adjustment had no impact on thermals, as there’s sufficient space for airflow, and the design safely accommodates the increased battery thickness. Lenovo likely left extra space for flexibility in design rather than for thermal concerns.

I would take it perfectly inside since the measurements are 29.5cm and if we disassemble them and put them one on top of the other they are 14.55 and we disassemble the thickness remains at 1cm.
