Lenovo LOQ 15 Review - Budget Gaming Laptop done right!

Have this and I love it. Got the 3050 6GB and 8GB RAM version and after adding another 8GB RAM it functions well enough to run games on medium/low settings at 144FPS (same as refresh rate of screen). Got a deal on it for $600 pre-tax and about $660 total for post-tax when adding on the extra 8GB. Absolutely perfect for portable gaming AND work while being cheap. Great build quality. My only gripe is that the keyboard is a bit too small to compare to PC gaming, but that will almost always be the case for budget gaming laptops. The good thing is there is a hotkey to turn off the trackpad, so you can use a mouse and still have a great gaming experience while resting your hand comfortably. 10/10 would recommend.

In my country there’s a model that imported from china which is lenovo GeekPro G5000, it’s so cheap that for the price of a LOQ with i5 13420H, you can get a GeekPro with ryzen 7 7840H, bonus it also has a QHD 165hz instead of FHD 144hz

Great review, in my country (Italy) it seems like this is the best option for a 4060, I can get the 15inch version with a 4060 + 7640hs for 1.2k euro vs the cheapest legion model with a 4050 for 200 euros more. The only thing im undecided at this point is whether the 4060 is worth the 100 euro increase over a 4050.

this laptop is great and all but there is one thing people must be aware of, this laptop doesn't have a integrated gpu which means that battery life will be crap overall. the dedicated gpu will run all the time and consumes too much power on idle even when watching youtube or web browsing which is bad. since there is no integrated gpu to switch to doing regular non gaming tasks and running simple apps can be a pain for battery life.

First of all great review, keep it up! I'm considering this as my first gaming and productivity laptop, in my country the 8gb ram version is available with the Intel i5 13420h at a good price, I guess the Intel variant would perform the same. But my concern is to know if the 8gb RAM is enough to have a smooth experience in games at all settings taking advantage of dlss and optimum settings? and also if I want to upgrade it turns out that the only DDR5 sticks available here are up to 4800mhz but not sure if this laptop is compatible with that frequency, because if it is the case I may consider putting 2 sticks of those.

You can use a 4800mhz stick. It should work :) and it's a better performance in most games than with 8gb only. Ans some games don't work if you're not getting 16gb!

In southeast asia (Indonesia atleast) we got the 1440p 165Hz 100%sRGB panel for the 15 Inch model, while it is nice to see its kinda too much or useless since in my country we only got the RTX 4050 variant and not the 4060 because 4050 is massively crippled by its 96 Bus width for 1440p gaming thus we had to lower the resolution, the problem is lowering it on a not native 1080p display will only make it more blurrier than laptops that has 1080p native display, so yeah its kinda tradeoff also the price is very overpriced here around 1154$ whereas Nitro 16 2023 with an RTX 4050 120 Watt is selling for 990$ although its still using the Zen3+ Refresh CPU and not the 7040 Zen 4 Phoenix sadly

Well I don't think RTX4050 is struggling using as 1440P screen overall DLSS use for high resolution is better rather than use in 1080P, of course I use this laptop with RTX4050 run a Microsoft Flight Simulator at 100 fps with custom setting high-ultra settings overall this laptop not seem like a budget laptop more like premium one.

Tough Question really. Right now the 4060 + 7735HS will be faster in basically all games and is most likely the better choice overall... Though the weaker CPU compared to the i7 COULD become a bottleneck in the future. Not guaranteed though.

Agree to disagree. It doesn't feel cheap at all. More like the Lenovo legion pro. The cooling system is great. It's quite silent. And it's preventing throttling. You can undervolt the GPU. For the cpu it depends on Intel or amd. And for the battery some models come with an 80wh battery. Did you even watch my review? 😉

Great video! I have a question. Is the pre-installed 8 GB ram enough if i don't do any gaming? I will probably mostly use Microsoft word, browse on chrome (simultaneously opening at least 15-20 tabs at a time) and running some software (Stata, Adobe Photoshop, low-key light video editing etc).. watch KZbin and some movies, play videos N.B. I did not see any warnings on screws about voiding the warranty. But make sure to use a manual screwdriver not a battery powered because I stripped a screw with mine. If you’re really worried about warranty, I wouldn’t mess with it though.

DDR 5 SODIMM 5600 should work. Idk if the ram speed goes lower but if yours says like 5200 get a 5200. Don’t get the extra RAM on their website, can find one cheap for like $25-30, mine works fine with it
