Using this Yoga Gen 6 (1920x1200 resolution, ~400 nits, very rare display in modern PCs: it's matte and touch) about 2 month for now. Excellent machine with good keyboard and touch screen, expect 7-8 hours of battery life. Do not forget to upgrade bios to at least version 1.24 (there are some problems with heating on older ones). X1 Nano and Titanium Yoga lacks ports unfortunately, so, I don't even want to compare them. So choose: Carbon Gen 9 (if you do not need touch screen) or Yoga Gen 6. Both incredible machines.

Lisa, you nailed it: i was so waiting for someone finally showing Footage of the 4k display in the new X1Y! Thanks so much! First lesson I learned: (only) 2h less battery life - that I can live with easily. Much more important: „how glossy“ is it (as the 4k on the X1C is supposed to be a real mirror)… and I have to say I don’t see a lot of reflections in your Footage. Only once, where it is almost Closed and reflects its own keyboard. Of course I don’t know how your studio is lit but still so far this looks good. That’s great news because I really would like to try a high-res display, but I can’t stand gloss. It would be really helpful to show both the matte and the 4k display side-by-side… So how glossy did you find it? Thanks for your great reviews!
@j.49413 жыл бұрын
I re-watched and it's really striking: in none of the shots of the Display in use there is ANY kind of glare visilbe: look at the JPG picture show or the shots of THinkVantage. In the very beginning when it is in tablet mode this looks absolutely like a matte display! The only moment you see glare is in the "half-closed" position when it VERY heavvily reflected the keyboard. @Lisa: This is really striking. Did you have two different displays in the test or did you have special lighting conditions?

2:30 Titanium is a much stiffer material. With it the chassis could be made far more stronger & still be comparable in weight with aluminium. If Lenovo's Titanium laptops have more flex to them, it's probably because they went overboard with trying to shave off weight & made the shells too thin.
@ithinkabout43693 жыл бұрын
The Titanium on the X1 Titanium is a super thin (0.3mm) layer over a Carbon fiber sheet (0.7mm thick, so 1mm of lid). The X1 Titanium Yoga is the thinnest ThinkPad ever, and it is also meant to be used as a tablet. So they chose a low weight, low thickness build.

When I told a friend about this X1 Yoga review, he told me to also look into the Dell XPS 15. With that one, I can get an i9 with 64 GB RAM *and* a 4 GB dedicated GPU. It also has a 4k 500 nits touch screen. And was only a couple hundred euros more expensive (than the X1 with the cheap i7, and 16 GB RAM). (although, granted, I was looking at the upper range of builds, which are probably not worth the cost for me, eventually) I still prefer the build quality of Lenovo, and a 14 inch over a 15.6 inch format, I think... But it could still be worth looking into! (I'm searching for Lisa's review about that one now, lol)

Just a heads up for anyone looking at this laptop, certain configurations come with abysmal battery life, and lenovo makes it painfully difficult to figure out how to upgrade the battery. I'm currently still trying to figure out where I can purchase the upgraded battery, and what that upgraded battery's specs are. I have a unit with an i5 processor and 4k screen and I'm lucky to get 3 hours of video playback. Pretty upsetting given the 15 hours it's advertised for (non-4k) and 12 or so hours for the 4k unit.

Pick a different computer, Lisa's review is accurate, but should really stress how the battery is located on your left leg if you use it in the "touch screen" to work, watch movies, etc. I bought it based on her review as it sounded positive. I've had leg heat to the point of having to stop working. The computer also overheats if you use it on your lap. At first, I read this in other reviews, but thought it would occur if used for a while. This happens within 1 hour or less of usage. I do not recommend this computer. I loved everything else and agree with Lisa, but this is a series problem. If you have a cooling pad on your lap it would work. However, I'm not sure how that would work or why you'd want to adapt to the computer. I'm returning the computer. I'm back to looking for one (and this time I will pay attention to the reviews on heat and battery placement). I love Thinkpad, but not this model.
@rainerrain9689 Жыл бұрын
Hi, yes I will be mainly using it to surf and watch movies in touch screen mode and I don't want to deal with any heat issues. The problem with all these reviews they don't use the laptop for days to test things like heat problems ,so ya have to find reviews who do actually test them out for days or weeks. I was seriously looking to buy this laptop until I read your comment. May I ask what you ended buying after you returned this ? Thanks.

@CptMooney3 жыл бұрын
Is it just me, or would others also rather see the 1920x1200 matte option on a device like this? Its not like youd need 4k on such a "tiny" screen, and since most office monitors come in fhd+ you avoid annoying resizing and mouse pointer issues when docked... That and most likely radically reduced battery life (if you use brightness levels that actually enable you to see stuff during normal lighting conditions) makes such high res screen options incredibly unappealing. I could be talked into 2560x1600 (granted i get similar screens at the office) but 3840x2400 seems very excessive, considering the drawbacks (including the glossy finish) and how little benefit you get on this small of a screen.

I have seen this LEN4039 panel myself now, and my experience with it has been great. I didn't see rainbow effect, and it wasn't flickering especially at lower brightness like the Gen 4 that I saw did. I definitely got 500 nit and sometimes over. The thing about a touch panel though, is if you look close up (20cm or less), you start seeing the matrix for the touch functionally, which, if you have good eyesight, can get in the way of looking closely at picture detail that this super high res panel can display. Looking at the driver INF, it looks as if this machine could also be provided with LEN4038, another QUXGA panel (different manufacturer), so as always, YMMV.
