Any comments on actual feel and design? Does the plastic looks and feel cheap and archaic? What's your view on keyboard lift and lock feature? Do you actually often find yourself using the tab mode with pen on win 10, or it's something you play with at the start for fun, but soon stop doing so as not really practical and comfortable?!
@GeorgeFarren8 жыл бұрын
I'll start off by stating my specs: i7 6500U, 8GB Ram, 500GB SSHD, Win10, also with Fingerprint Scanner. Love the general aesthetic and design; straight lines and flat surfaces are my thing. Also like the material used. It is a high quality smooth plastic that looks really sleek. The trackpad is really nice and smooth and the trackpoint is the first I've used so can't compare. Generally it's not the lightest thing ever but thin and light enough for me. The general build feels solid and rigid, owing I imagine to the carbon fibre. There is a little bit of screen wobble when you move it with your finger, and while it doesn't bounce when typing, it is noticible with the pen in stand mode. Speaking of which, I do indeed use the pen feature, but mainly for note taking in one note, and filling out things like exam papers on my laptop. The pen can be a little glitchy every now and then, the software's pointer can get stuck to the left of the screen while I'm trying to write in the middle. I mainly use the pen in tablet mode on a flat desk so it is more stable. The keyboard itself is lovely! Standard Thinkpad quality here, lovely smooth keys, nice actuation. It feels like you are typing with intent. I'm still getting used to the Fn and Ctrl being switched, and the general slight variation in size of keys from other laptops, but that will come soon. I do like the lift'n'lock feature, however don't imagine the keyboard area is going to be like a rigid block of steel when locked in place, it's a little mushy but nothing actuates. The actual lift'n'lock plastic itself is a bit cheap, thin and flexible. It stays pretty rigid when locked, but feels a little looser otherwise. It's not a problem for me, but since you asked. The only thing I do wish it had was ethernet. You can buy adapters, I personally feel like USB3 ones are a better choice than the one-link because they'll be plenty fast enough and much cheaper than lenovo's proprietary one. And I think I've run out of things to say hardware wise. Do ask me anything else but I'm by no means an expert.

Well I paid around £760 for mine. But prices vary wildly depending on specs, region and exchange rates. ( I also used a 10% discount code). It's best you do your own research for your region.

Hi lisa, great review! One question, what is that slot to the left of the RAM and cpu at 8:00? It looks like a 42x22mm M.2 slot... perhaps for a small SSD? haven't seen one of those in a while.
@Zhus1188 жыл бұрын
Also, maybe there will be future versions that include a dedicated gpu, given the mounting holes and empty component spaces on the PCB?
@mobiletechreview8 жыл бұрын
It appears to be a half height M.2 slot, though I can't tell if it's actually got active solder traces on the board. My guess is it's there for future WWAN or WiGiG options, should Lenovo decide to offer those. It's completely ignored in Lenovo's service documentation, so I can only guess.

The one reviewed was not the OLED version. The OLED version just came out a couple of weeks ago. I ordered one, but the shipping has been delayed by about a month, due to overwhelming demand. I think the only major difference with the OLED version is just the image quality of the display, being much brighter (around 480 nits, according to the customer service rep I talked to, although on their website it's shown incorrectly as 300 nits), with higher saturation, and much wider color gamut (should be 100% Adobe RGB, I'm guessing).
@jf91448 жыл бұрын
+Rob “Lunatique” Chang oh ok thank you very much. is it worth it for the price to quality ratio? also mainly want it for gaming.
@LunatiqueRob8 жыл бұрын
For gaming, 2-in-1 laptop/tablet hybrids are not ideal, because they need to be very light, so you can't cram heavy-duty discreet graphics cards in there, and there isn't as much room for ventilation to keep the heat down. If you want serious performance, the laptop will be quite large and heavy usually. But it depends on whether you play demanding current AAA games or not. As for whether the price to quality/performance ratio is worth it, I do feel it's overpriced, but it's the only one that has the features I want currently (high-quality stylus for doing visual art that can be stored inside the laptop instead of attaching to the exterior, OLED screen with high color gamut and brightness/contrast), one of the best laptop keyboards (I'm also a writer so I type a lot), and under 3 lbs.

I tried the Yoga 12 today at Fry's. Excellent keyboard... The Yoga 12's was not clicky, had good key travel and good key spacing. Keyboard, keyboard, keyboard. That is what matters when you are typing all day long. For comparison take, I also tried the Dell XPS 13's, Asus 303's and the LG Gram's keyboards-- all seemed like afterthoughts with barely any engineering time expended to make them usable and not a health risk. The Yoga 460 from Lenovo has an option for a QHD screen. The Best Buy version does not, and it only has an i5 CPU. So unfortunately you have to choose if you live in the U.S.: faster processor and better screen vs. dedicated graphics. I find that to be a very annoying choice given the fact that the P40 Yoga is the only alternative with a GPU and is a bit more expensive.
@Aremion1008 жыл бұрын

This is a great review. I upgraded my 20FY0002US with more memory and added second storage using the M.2 slot. Works great and I am - really - happy with the machine in every way except one. Performance, speed, battery, stylus are all great! I have the dock attached to two high resolution monitors and they work well... Except... my 460 doesn't have the NVIDIA graphics and I really miss it when sharing screens (Skype or other) or using any kind of video editor/ video capture. The CPU alone just can't handle the graphics load when sharing screens or capturing video, and thus the machine slows down quite dramatically. It is my only complaint and it does not seem that the graphics is upgradeable. Darn... Otherwise nearly perfect for the money.

After having it a month or so, it's deciding to do this thing I'm only now seeing a LOT of-- "no drivers installed" when she tries to use her Wacom Pro, or "driver not started"....sometimes she loses the touchpad & trackball, too. It seems that the active pen doesn't like the Wacom Pro. Lenovo is offering to work on it (format & start over), but she's got so much installed now for uni, we're hoping for a miracle to fix the d*mned thing. I doubt them formatting it will fix the issue.
