couple of this to try first... install a monitoring program to determine the temps during shut down. If temps are ok, run an event log and see if that tells you anything helpful. It’s likely either a bios issue or you’re mobo may be faulty. I’ve seen a lot of threads on this laptop with people that have the same issue. Many report they reverted to an older bios and it fixed the problem. Some say they tried this and it did not fix the issue and ultimately replacing the mobo resolved the issue. Personally, I have not experienced this on mine and have not had to trouble shoot this myself.

Nathan, first, start with the simple stuff. Make sure the vents are clear and not obstructed by anything. Dirt, debris, cloths, blankets etc when you’re running this laptop. Did this start randomly, or did this start after taking it apart? If non of the above mentioned things appear to be an issue, I recommend to remove the back panel, check to ensure the fans and shrouds are clear of dirt and debris. If they are clean, run the laptop in a static free area with the back cover off and check to ensure the fans are working.

Hi, my hard drive recently blew out so I had to get a new one. I am planning on getting a 500GB SSD Hard Drive. I think I'm going to need to reinstall Windows 8.1 on this new hard drive, correct? I went to Microsoft's website and downloaded Windows 64 Bit 8.1 Drivers onto a USB using a program like Rufus. Will this USB be enough for me to reinstall Windows onto this new Driver or do I have to order a whole new Windows 8.1 Online in USB form or something? I really don't want to have to spend more money on the Windows Operating System if I don't need to, so I'm hoping what I did works.
@RandomTechG4 жыл бұрын
To have a registered version, you will need a product key (which means you will need to buy it). You can easily find 8.1 keys for between $20 & $30. Just be careful of where you buy it. During the download you can choose to download to a usb drive (make sure your drive is large enough before you start). Then, you will set up your co outer to boot from the sun drive, follow the steps that follow then it will do the rest.

There are some external enclosures designed specifically for SSHD's. I don't think you would have a problem utilizing this SSHD for external storage (unless the manufacture of your sshd block this somehow) but SSHD's are not great options when it comes to speed. If it is an option in your budget, i would personally recommend ditching the SSHD all together and go with an external SSD for your storage needs. Last but not least, with the price of external SSD's, it may be more cost effective to just go with an external ssd vs. buying an enclosure for your SSHD and turning it into external storage. Definitely look at you external SSD options vs. sshd enclosures before you decide. A lot to read, I know - hope this helps tho. 😁
