Lenovo Yoga Smart Tab & Smart Tab M8 hands on

Lenovo unveiled two new tablets at IFA 2019 which also double as smart displays powered by Google Assistant. The Lenovo Yoga Smart Tab is the larger of the two with a 10.1-inch display while the Lenovo Smart Tab M8 comes with a charging dock. Smart displays are great, but having a tablet which can double as a smart display give you added functionality that a tablet or a smart display on their own simply can't match.

It's buuod in partnership with Google. There's a good chance we will see the same feature from other manufacturers who still build Android tablets, at least those who are on board with the Google Assistant.

Seriously use my Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 Pro quite heavily. Mostly just because of the kickstand, which is such an underrated feature! Flipped open I always use it on plane rides and fits in the magazine pocket of the seat in front of me. JBL speakers are also amazing for such a portable device! Batterylife amazing foo. Mine has a projector built-in even. Looking forward to be getting a replacement as it started go feel a little dated...

100% agree! I have the first Lenovo Yoga Tab and it really needs a replacement. But I am afraid that this new one will be slow already in 1 year and will get 0 updates from Lenovo as my current one.

This is so cool, this is the only reason I'll buy tablets is that they double as smart home displays. I too really hope this trend catches on. The idea of smart displays by themselves seems wasteful and lacking. Also tablets are kind of in a weird position, laptops perform heavy duty tasks better and smart phones do the light duty tasks just as well. Now tablet, meet smart home display, haha. It's going to be the future of tablets: dedicated control panels, home hubs, and entertainment devices on the side. It may have found its niche at home at last.

They took the projector out of this tablet I own the pro with that feature and it is great.

What about those side speakers? When you use the tablet in landscape mode you cover them with your palms! I had a Yoga 3 and the speakers were in front! There is no 8" version of this same tablet?

I like Lenovo's Design, BUT: You don't get any Updates from Lenovo. So you are stuck with an old Android very soon.

True, but most people don't want to buy a $400 laptop. This is good enough for web browsing, media streaming and perfect for its Google Assistant Smart Tablet feature.
