Dude, thank you. Videos on complex subjects, especially for people like me that are just starting and are either lost or very lost, in very understandable and deep language. A sign of intelligence and dedication is the ability to talk about difficult things in an uncomplicated way. You’ve mastered it, I’ve subscribed. Very didactic. Thanks again.

Some of the wide lens shots with the black and white scene with the young girl is actually a 58mm F2, its the Helios 44-2 lens which gives the impression of a wide distorted lens :)

Is it? I thought it was a Petzval lens ;)
@shawn3d5 ай бұрын
@@lukedekorte interesting, thats a good possibility actually. I did look at the lens characteristics and IMO it seems to be the Helios in the shot with the closeup of the young girls face in B&W. Either way these lenses have a swirl effect that gives the impression of a wide lens I guess :)

I'm glad that I'm subscribed to this channel. Each video teaches me somthing fresh and new that I can use to improve my film-making, even though I had never touched a cinema camera 😆

Would you happen to have a video showing us your current setup? Camera, lens, lighting, etc. Your videos are super clean!

Very well done and informative. Only thing I want to point out is something these type of informational sources cover is not mentioning how crop factor impacts the FOV. Even the example movies cover a wide range of s35mm, FF and 65mm productions so giving the focal length has very different meaning. If the crop was already factored in it’s good to mention that for each shot so people understand the difference and impact. We don’t all shoot the same crop factor and even in the s35mm world there are a lot of variations on the actual crop factor. I tend to think of everything in s35mm terms and yet all manufactured numbers for lenses are given in FF. Just something I would like to see more clarification in these type of videos. They are very educational and really get into the aesthetics of film making. Unfortunately a 35mm is a very different look between a m43, APSC, s35mm, FF or Medium/65mm format camera. Instead of thinking in numbers it’s important to just start thinking in ultra wide, wide, normal and telephoto terms and what that means for each camera and system. The numbers mean nothing in the end and it’s really just about the FOV. We should really stop using focal lengths all together and just start talking in FOV angle terms. That’s universal and can be used to modify for each system.

i am so happy about old fast glass rental and their decision to build their own anamorphic lens set togehter with ancient optics! they goal is to attempt the look of the nipponscopes, cineovision, technovision and todd-ao. also i am very happy about greig fraser that he made ARRI producing their first useable anamorphics. so art is coming back!

why 35mm categorized as wide angle?i thought 24mm is a standard wide angle..
@wakkowarner88105 ай бұрын
It all depends on the sensor size.
@Alexzarfatifilms5 ай бұрын
It depends on the sensor size but also 24 mm to 35 mm is a standard wide angle but 35 mm to 50 mm is a standard focal length representing something similar to the human eye
@lucasvivante89885 ай бұрын
35 sits in between the wide and the standard. It's an all purpose. BTW natural field of view seems to be more in the 40-45 range than 50!
