Jesus Christ died on the cross for you so that he may save you from an endless torment. He did this because he loved you. Now you must respond to this with joyful gratitude. Don’t spend the rest of your life focused on sins that have been paid for already. Don’t be hard on yourself for the mistakes that you will always make. Instead look at Jesus, the best friend you’ll ever have. And learn from him. He will show you how to live, and how to be a blessing to others. Lent is a good time to do this.

Matt Blaise where are the “potential” scriptures?
@nikhefe16
@nikhefe16 5 жыл бұрын
@Matt Blaise You are missing the point! Jesus died for you and I to have life, and to have it abundantly John 10:10...not to shame, but to make us attentive to our sins so we do not continue falling. We enjoy grace by not taking advantage of it, being mindful of our sinful nature, yielding it to the Spirit, but living in the freedom Jesus offers. What this person is saying it, don't become a slave to your past, when Jesus died for you to overcome sin. Look at Jesus, not to the shame sin brings, because Jesus doesn't do that -He convicts us to change and invites us to be more like Him. Repentance is the foundation of our walk with Christ, I agree with you, but to harken more on sin, than on the sacrifice Jesus made to help us to triumph over it, takes away from the gospel (good news). No where did this person say to "take it easy", I urge you to not misunderstood things that aren't being said.

I became a born again believer in Jesus Christ. Later this year will be 19 years since I've given my heart to the Lord, putting my faith and trust in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who paid for the sins of the entire world, anyone who has lived, is living, and will live. The born again believer is NO LONGER trusting and believing in what he/ she can do, or see, but being led by, abiding by and in the Word of God, the Bible. I came from a family tradition of being Catholic. I don't think we really knew why we were Catholics, it was something my dad's grandmother believed, passed down to my dad, and us kids, there is 6 of us. I couldn't be a good enough Catholic. I didn't remember to say the rosary every day. Keeping certain days, among other things. I did not have any peace. I felt like I couldn't do enough to please God. Does anyone know how many candles have to be lit, how many rosaries you have to say, how many????? I finally found the peace I so desperately wanted and needed by learning and knowing what the Bible says about pleasing God and the true way of salvation. Lent?! I also managed to mess that up too. I couldn't keep it. But you know what?? I wasn't meant to. No one can do or keep anything without the Strength, Power, and love of God through and in Jesus Christ. Give your heart and life to the Lord Jesus Christ, allow Him to do His work in you. I have and have never looked back. Romans 10:1-13. The thorough, diligent reading of the scriptures help a child of God know His Will. People can come before the throne of grace, Jesus Christ paid the penalty of our sins so we can come before God. Jesus Christ is our Mediator before God. Jesus Christ is the only one who obeyed the Lord even unto death. Hebrews 4:16, 1 Timothy 2:5, Hebrews 8:6, 9:15, 12:24. God sent His Son Jesus Christ, to die on the Cross, He is the only Mediator by which we can come to God and ever have true peace. True peace because our sins are forgiven and we put our faith and trust in Jesus Christ, to walk with and in us, those who believe in Christ and Christ alone. 💖📖

Paul warns against "asceticism," a term referring to self-denial. The general idea includes extreme practices which appear noble but are not required by God, such as a vow of silence, prolonged fasting, or lifelong celibacy. These practices are not always wrong, but they are in no way requirements to follow Christ. Gnosticism, an early heresy confronting Christians, taught that the body was evil, and so all physical desires needed to be squelched. Colossians 2:18-23

Romans 14:5-6 KJVS [5] One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike . Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. [6] He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it . @@MrMack65 Not sure what you mean by "we might need to update" since there have been many modern English versions printed for decades now. The Good News Bible was published in 1966. I find KJ English to be a beautiful form of English to read although I don't use it as first choice for regular bible reading/study. I agree most people would prefer a modern English for many/most liturgy, bibles, and so on. KJ seems pretty awkward/harder to understand to a lot of people. Hard to beat KJ English for bible comedy/satire though. I'm looking at you right now, Monty Python.

Lent is the Christian season of Repentance, sort of a spring cleaning of our lives that calls us to renew our faith in Christ. Lent begins about 40 days before Easter. Why 40? 40 has symbolic value in the Bible. 40 days of Lent remind us of Jesus' fast in the wilderness and the 40 years the Israelites wandered in the desert before entering the Promised Land. Lent begins on Ash Wednesday. The ashes are traditionally made from the burned palms of last year's Palms Sunday and worn by Catholics and other Christians on this day. They are a sign of Repentance, Humility, Mortality. Which is why when ashes are distributed, the minister says: "Turn away from sin and be faithful to the Gospel". or "Remember that you are dust and to dust you shall return". We don't wear ashes to proclaim our holiness but to acknowledge that we are sinners in need of repentance and renewal. Ash Wednesday is not a Holy day of Obligation or a day just for Catholics. Ash Wednesday is the day when Christians renew 3 Practices: Fasting, Praying, Giving. Why do we Fast, Pray, Give? Fast, because choosing to go without something reminds us of our dependence on God and Jesus' sacrifice for us and teaches us to live in solidarity with the less fortunate. Catholics abstain from meat on Fridays during Lent as penance and sacrifice and to remember Jesus' death on Good Friday. Many people give something up for Lent, which is also a form of fasting. Pray, to grow closer to God. We reflect on where we have fallen short of God's hope for us and ask for forgiveness. We also ask God to help others and change our hearts to help us be better agents of Christ's love in the world. Give, what God gives us isn't meant for us to keep to ourselves, but to share with others, especially the poor, following Jesus' example. Lent invites us to think about how to create a more just world, by giving our money, time or talents. Fasting, Praying and Giving, we improve our spiritual well-being by getting rid of all that is unnecessary and help us become more mindful of how God is working in our lives. Remember this Lenten road of reflection, prayer, sacrifice and repentance ultimately leads to joy! So, this Lent, make a donation to a charity close to your heart. Reflect on the readings before Mass. Give something up. Volunteer with your local soup kitchen. Attend the Stations of the Cross. Do a random act of kindness everyday. Pray for friends, family, strangers and our world and consider all the ways in which you might grow closer to God.

Anything that isn't necessary, really. Often folks will give up things like candy, sweets, chocolate, coffee, etc etc. But a few people like to do a full Lenten fast, which consists of only three meals a day with no other food unless necessary, and two of those meals are very small, and the sum of these meals is no greater than the size of the larger meal. However, it's always best to pray about this and find that which is unnecessary and possibly leading towards sin for yourself. God Bless!

Orthodox Christians do not eat anything animal related nor drink milk or eat eggs the entire 40 days... much more conservative! And they fast more often. So you shjould be able to manage 2 small meals and one normal size each day 😊 Do what you can, that's all. Blessings ~

Easter actually started as a pagan festival. I am a Christian but I don't celebrate Xmas or Easter.
@alfredolebron1428
@alfredolebron1428 6 жыл бұрын
That is partially correct. Some of the Easter festivities are indeed based on Pagan rituals. However, much like how our days are named after Pagan gods and how we name our children after traditional gods and mythical beings, the Christian Easter celebration can use the previously Pagan admiration for Springtime and renewal to remind us that the Resurrection of Our Lord is the greatest renewal of all.

Google translated lol

Dear friend, thank you for making such awesome videos. I am a Religious sister and a Master Catechist. I love your dedication and works. I always count on you to help us better learn about God and become closer to Him. I love this video except one little question. Why do you change the word "give $" rather than "Almsgiving"? Is there a way you can go back to the original message from the Bible please?!
