I closed my eyes and listened to this song and as soon as that falsetto came in, I immediately starting crying. I doubt he will ever see this comment, but I hope that Leo realizes that, mask or no mask, he is so incredibly loved by people who only know him through his music. He opens up to us on such a deeply personal level and I think thats why it resonates with our souls so much. There is a video of a message from Vessel during the Room Below set. In it he says things like "I have a lot of pain in my life but I haven't suffered" and "I am nothing without this music. I am nothing without this mask." And that we saved him. I hope that this man truly feels our love and is healing through his music. I never want him to feel that we are benefiting from his pain. I hope it is a cathartic release and that someday, when he is ready, he will open up to us as Leo and allow us to truly thank him.

His own voice?! Whose voice is that then? He was younger and here singing folk like songs with minimal production and instruments. The boy’s been singing since birth probably and voice and style will change along the years. This is his head voice which you can still hear a lot nowadays.

@Fqbbp I'm not referring to the style of music or the production value nor to him using head voice. It's just that you can hear how he's grown more confident in using his own unique style of intonation, phrasing, which vowels or consonants to emphasize and so on that makes his voice stand out anywhere. That's what I mean by "own voice". I'd even say that his style has become iconic enough that a new generation of singers now tries to imitate him. Another example of a truly unique and groundbreaking style could be, for example, Michael Jackson.

I'm just a Worshipper probably like most in the comments, but I just want to give a big shout out to Gemma for this one. She gave just as much to this song and this performance. I actually went and bought the little Blacklit Canopy EP on Bandcamp after discovering this as I really like this song in it's own right. While you can obviously hear things from a certain singer that you'll hear again in a certain band that came after this, the combination of the two singers in BC was definitely nice for what it was.

I was fortunate enough to find out two years ago. After hours and hours on redit searching "who is you know who" someone deep down in the reddit abyss said, "Im a UK musician in the scene. It's definitely Leo Faulkner" so I searched Leo Faulkner and found Backlit Canopy. Once i heard his voice I knew it was he who shall not be named. Glad to I dscover his past endeavors. As of 2 years ago, all of his Backlit Canopy songs were available for free on Soundcloud. That may have changed.

To me it is almost like these types of artist channel something from another dimension almost as if they are a portal for this magical melody that is being called from this dimension.
