Messi clearly did enough to be on the list. While obviously his goal tally was well below his usual standards, he still managed a total of 20 direct goal involvements (6 goals and 14 assists) in those 26 league games. Not to mention, he's won a league title, the French super cup and another title with Argentina so far this year. Add to that, he was man of the match in both finals he played. The fact someone like Vlahovic is in there also makes no sense at all.

I know for adaptation , proper system , coach issues Messi haven't been included in top 30 but I think there is a big contribution of Messi according to those assists for which Mbappe scored more and more goals. And I can say that Mbappe could have more goals if he could finish those beautiful chances created by Messi last season. Mbappe wasn't able to convert all the chances. He wasn't aware about Messi's style of play (which Neymar knows). Still there is a direct impact of Messi for which Mbappe is there where he is now.
