"3 Libras" from A Perfect Circle's "Mer de Noms" album (2000).
Probably the easiest APC song so far. Not that it really matters since it's one of the most beautiful songs out there.
Anyway, the verses don't change at all which is nice. The first two choruses also don't change and the bridge is pretty easy. Just a pretty straightforward song I guess. Four A Perfect Circle songs within a month is probably enough for now.
Some important information that nobody is going to read.
Tuning : C#-F#-B-E
Artist : A Perfect Circle
Bassist : Billy Howerdel
Album : Mer de Noms (2000)
Song : 3 LIBRAS
Bass : ESP LTD B-105

that 1:03 is so beautiful it's crazy! (in how it enables/signals the corresponding detail~ vis-à-vis logic notwithstanding). I mean normally, in sentence construction, 'but I threw you the obvious' is almost always-- the predicate of the subject.

I guess it did since I decided to stop making covers for now. We'll have to see what happens with Article 13, but I'm focusing on making music with Orien right now.

Hey just curious what gauge string do you use for E string (or C# in this case) because tuning down my .105 to C# makes it sound pretty bad.
@LeoBassCovers2
@LeoBassCovers2 2 ай бұрын
I think with this bass, I used a .110 string. These days I use a .105 though, so it might be that your action is too low

I was trying to transcribe this the other day and I’m not very experienced transcribing...I was feeling it as 3/4 but every tab I see had it in 6/8..the difference in these times signatures still confused me can you take a second to explain it to me please
@LeoBassCovers2
@LeoBassCovers2 4 жыл бұрын
I am technically not allowed to explain this as I don't know much about music theory. Some would say that 6/8 is 6/8 because of how many quarter notes or sixteenth notes there are in this riff. To most people, 6/8 is just the sped up version of 3/4 as it's the same. 3 or 6, it's the same. 6/8 doubles up the tempo in a song which is why 6/8 in a fast song is unlikely to appear.
@lydiai.3658
@lydiai.3658 2 жыл бұрын
The difference between 3/4 and 6/8 is where we feel the strong beats, the general pulse of the song. 3/4 is used if we hear 3 strong beats that divide naturally into two (shown as 3 quarter notes), 6/8 is used if we hear 2 strong beats that divide naturally into thirds (two dotted quarter notes). In this song, if you think of the hi-hat hits in the verses as your strong beats, then it sounds like a fast 3/4, almost like a waltz, but if you think of the main kick and snare hits (especially in the pre-chorus) as your strong beats, then you would write it in a slow 6/8, with the hi-hats dividing each of those long beats into 3 eighth notes. Neither way to write out the song is wrong, but I'd guess most people chose the 6/8 because of wanting to put the kick and snare pattern all in one measure, rather than dividing it into two 3/4 measures. The 3/4 waltz beat usually doesn't have that kind of back-and-forth motion between every other measure (kick in measure one, snare in measure two), typically you want every measure to be accented more or less the same way. But then there are examples like Leonard Bernstein's "America" where every other measure really does shift between 3/4 and 6/8, because the accented beats change every other measure. That's a little bit different than what we're seeing here though - in America, when the time signature changes, the eighth notes stay the same length. In 3 Libras, it seems to be more a question of what we are calling an eighth note and what we are calling a quarter note.
