The most dangerous time for a woman in an abusive relationship is when she tries to leave. That's when she is at greatest risk for being killed. Police can't guard you... As the lyric in the song "Goodbye Earl" says - "He walked right through that restraining order and put her in intensive care".
@3SailorMartin6 ай бұрын
Exactly. Restraining orders are pitiful as protection. People can still do a lot of damage from the prescribed number of feet away and if they're sneaky about it you won't have a chance to call the police to report a violation you'll be dead. Restraining orders seem to me to be either evidence after the fact and or a clue to where to start looking at suspects

You are exactly right. A girl who was close to my family growing up married and had three children with a man who was physically and mentally abusive. When her kids were between 9 and 16, she found out that he had a second family he supported in Mexico. She filed for divorce at last, and had a restraining order so he didn't come to their house. But they ran a business together and it was there he went to find her. When mom didn't get home at the usual time, the 16 year old rode her bicycle to the shop, only to find her father had committed a murder/suicide. It was her leaving that put him all the way over the edge.

I just don't think you understand…. Very rarely are abusers put in jail much less for a long time. And staying? When they vow to find you and prove that they will it's fear that keeps women in these relationship.

Martina never did shy away from difficult topics. Please watch her singing, "Concrete Angel." Another I love from her is called, "I'm Gonna Love You Through It." Her vocals absolutely shine live in, "Where Would You Be," live from the Flameworthy Awards. That tiny woman has such a huge voice, in so many ways! Mad respect for her!

I can tell you from experience, if the cops show up and dont witness anyone being violent, no one admits to any violence, and they dont see any marks, they will do nothing at all!

Martina ended up with burns from this video. She was placed too close to the burning house but knew she only had a limited time to get good video footage so she just endured it.

Making you feel. Queen Reba McEntire says…If you cannot make people feel the emotions, Don’t sing the song. That’s Country Music.

My favorite songs from Martina McBride are That’s Me, Independence Day, That Wasn’t Me, Wrong Again, and Still Holding On (duet with Clint Black). She has amazing range and power. You can feel her emotions every time she sings with that golden voice.

Unless you"ve lived it, you can't understand. Bruises on the skin heal. Abusers use their mouths as more than they use their fists.

This song is so powerful. She felt like she had no choice. Everyone knew what he was like but nobody helped. My ex was the same way. Cops arrested him but he never served more than 5 days and it was worse when he got out. I escaped in the middle of the night with the help of my friends. I took a bus to another town.. 3 years after we divorced he got remarried. 2 years later he was on trial for murdering his wife in a drunken rage. He is in jail for at least the next 25 years.

While doing this video, Martina was standing too close to the burning house, but they only had one shot of doing this, so while the house burned, Martina got scorched by the heat but kept on singing and not telling anyone. Of course, afterwards she had medical attention but this only shows the strength that this woman has and how caring she is. Martina has such a great voice.

This song is about her niece
@pats82193 ай бұрын
I believe Concrete angels was about her niece. This song was about the story about Francine Hughes who set her husbands bed on fire when he finally passed out. She went to jail but got out on temporary insanity defense. The movie The Burning Bed told the story.

I think it's easy for you as a man to say it's not the only way.......and as for moving on many women don't live to get that chance. Pure ignorance
