Redback Spiders are ruthless insect killers that will kill their own to survive. Praying Mantis are deadly predator spider killers. It's round 2 of the ultimate monster bug battle as a venom affected Praying Mantis takes revenge looking for the killer spider snatch. Praying Mantis are ambush predators that have excellent eyesight camouflage and stealthy moves. Their use a rapid strike to grasp the prey with their spiked raptorial forelegs. The Redback spider has a different set of killer skills, it uses a very sticky web to trap other spiders and insects and has the ability to kill small snakes, lizards and skinks. Whats most scary about the Redback spider is it's constant killing of other Redback spiders. This sets these spiders up as some of the nastiest deadly spiders around. Video posted as educational, documentary, and scientific and forms part of my Redback Spider study series of videos.

• Deadly Spider Vs Giant...
The Redback spider (Latrodectus hasseltii) is a species of venomous spider indigenous to Australia. It is a member of the cosmopolitan genus Latrodectus, the widow spiders. The adult female is easily recognised by her spherical black body with a prominent red stripe on the upper side of her abdomen and an hourglass-shaped red/orange streak on the underside. Females have a body length of about 10 millimetres (0.4 in), while the male is much smaller, being only 3-4 mm (0.12-0.16 in) long. Mainly nocturnal, the female Redback lives in an untidy web in a warm sheltered location, commonly near or inside human residences. It preys on insects, spiders and small vertebrates that become ensnared in its web. It kills its prey by injecting a complex venom through its two fangs when it bites, before wrapping them in silk and sucking out the liquefied insides. Male spiders and spiderlings often live on the periphery of the female spiders' web and steal leftovers. Other species of spider and parasitoid wasps prey on this species. The Redback is one of few arachnids which usually display sexual cannibalism while mating. The redback is one of the few spider species that can be seriously harmful to humans, and its preferred habitat has led it to being responsible for the large majority of serious spider bites in Australia.
Mantises are an order (Mantodea) of insects that contains over 2,400 species in about 430 genera in 15 families. Mantises are distributed worldwide in temperate and tropical habitats. They have triangular heads with bulging eyes supported on flexible necks. Their elongated bodies may or may not have wings, but all Mantodea have forelegs that are greatly enlarged and adapted for catching and gripping prey; their upright posture, while remaining stationary with forearms folded, has led to the common name praying mantis. The closest relatives of mantises are the termites and cockroaches (Blattodea), which are all within the superorder Dictyoptera. Mantises are mostly ambush predators, but a few ground-dwelling species are found actively pursuing their prey. They normally live for about a year. In cooler climates, the adults lay eggs in autumn then die. The eggs are protected by their hard capsules and hatch in the spring. Females sometimes practice sexual cannibalism, eating their mates after copulation.

Please enjoy this complex Spider Vs Mantis bug battle that lasted 3 days. The fight is split into three 30 min videos that have been edited down from over 10 hours of raw fight footage. I’m sorry I can’t make these the 3 min trending videos Google is looking for so I expected to be shafted by the all-controlling and destructive algorithm. Anyway other scam producers will steal parts of these videos and make viral content for themselves. Welcome to KZbin.

Reason being there wld b NO advantages for eithr 'test subject' in ordr to get a non biased, accurate, results/conclusion. Blck widw had enormous advantages VS mantis thrfore your 'results' r fruitless, empty, biased, useless etc.. redo exercise only this time ensure total equallity for bth 'test subjects'. Additionally u hv no idea if any of the 'test subjects' were 'even', 'healthy' etc whn u introduced thm to echothr.. Moreover u were 'poking' the mantis ALOT vs the spider wth your tweezers (thgh im sure u meant no harm, myb thght u caused no harm but u cnnot b certain of tht) whch certainly cldve disabled mantis or gave an eithr furthr advantage to spider than the already favorable conditions u had the spider in...

rule of thumb in praying mantis is that the female is always bigger than the male. The female reaches the overall length of 10 inches while the male measures around 6 to 7 inches. The male has relatively slender body while the females are fatter. Different species have different lengths estimating 96-105 mm, 54-70 mm and 32-38 mm.

Nick C I agree throughout the whole video the mantis was either trying to hang onto the stick, keep its footing on the glass, or clean the vaseline off of its self I think the vaseline may have poisoned or harmed the mantis because when it cleaned its self it ate some vaseline.

My theory as to why the Mantis plays dead is perhaps its a way for the spider to go oh great I killed it. The Mantis will pop up and say oh hell no, I believe the Mantis in nature has had to deal with tons and tons of dangerous insects. So it has had to get very creative in dealing with dangerous insects. Its only a theory I'm probably wrong.

Ive had many Mantids before. And ive never seen one act like this.. The way it moves is really odd. Ive caught plenty of spiders and fed them to mine.. I was 100% certain a Mantis of that size would of ate that thing for lunch in a few hours.. I do feel the glass might have something to do with it. I feel a spider can adapt to that environment way more easily than a Mantis could. If you catch another one. Try laying down some grass or bark on the bottom of the cage. Maybe a few more twigs as well. Mantids like to stalk their prey. This one just acted bizarre in both videos.

I personally don't care about which one wins but more curious if it's in fact a battle that wouldn't happen in nature? The red on the spiders back is a cautionary sign to most animals that it's deadly and of course the mantis itself being in a tank without it's natural camouflage among green plants doesn't have it's primary offensive position which is to be stealth from an invisible position. Had this occured in nature would there be day 1, 2, 3, etc? I'm pretty sure both recognize the other as mincing and dangerous and more than likely would have parted ways long ago. To be caged together forced to fight which is evident by how long this is taking, I'm not so certain we are watching what you are indicating as something that would have occured in nature.

female is always bigger then the males . i think you should put a bigger tank completely empty the spider had the advantage . When i was younger i had them as pets they would sit on my finger and I could actually pet there backside and i would catch flies and hand feed it and it would take it from my hand

Something seems really weird about that Mantis, Even from the start. The one I had acted more aggressively when it came into contact with other bugs. Are you sure that's not an escaped store bought praying mantis? I have a feeling they are less aggressive than wild ones.

Wow, absolutely fantastic! Here we go again I suppose! That Praying Mantis sure isnt going down without a fight although it is wierd that it didnt take the oppurtunity to strike at the redback during that stalemate. Once again Im excited to see the "conclusion" (possible round 4? Haha) to this epic battle. This is probably one of the most thrilling battles to be featured on your channel. Especially since it's the one critter that the redback has respect for. Like you said the redback keeps its distance and has a lot of respect for the Praying Mantis, and I think that is one if the reasons its still alive. Cant wait for the next video and great job once again Leo!

xxxMattmanxxx ... You're kidding right? They mean an animated intro... Like Cinema 4D and Adobe AE? - I could make him one if he really wanted it.

You would be a good commentator on paint drying. Lol. My word the paint is drying so incredibly and fabulously fast. What a incredible day. I can’t believe my eyes. This would go down in the book of records. Just Kidding. Great work on the video. It’s cool to see how nature works. Have a great day.

I can't wait. I need the mantis to revenge the centipede, which I'm pissed off. Mantis better hurry up and stop cleaning it self and make a kill before the red back set up shop with its webbing. Try to take the stick out. The spider is at an advantage with the stick there I believe. Great vid.
