Love to be that guy, but ,"my friend and I" is incorrect in this case. It is, "my friend and me." They really don't do enough to teach this, but the easiest way to remember this is to remove the other person. You wouldn't say, "He was super nice and had a drink with I." You would say, "He was super nice and had a drink with me." Adding your friend back to the scenario doesn't change I/me, thus "my friend and me."

Im old school outlaw trucker from way back. I'll never forget when me and bunch of other drivers was in brass monkeys shop in Mississippi one saturday afternoon when this song was popular.
