I played goaltender when I was a kid, and every coach I have had always told me that unless it's a feeble shot attempt, hitting the post (especially often) usually means that the goaltender has played the angle perfectly.

Silovs lead Team Latvia to their first medal (bronze) in the 2023 IHFF World Championships defeating the US and was named the tournament MVP. Silovs is not some newbie. Hitting the post = not scoring. How does a post suddenly become a third arm or leg? Players miss a post because the goalie has SUCCESSFULLY made it difficult to score. Logic = if you're the team that made the most shots on goal (by a long shot) but still lost the game, that is called GOOD GOALTENDING. I get it - you have to spin it positively but karma suggests you give credit where and when it's due. PS - No matter which team you're cheering for, it's a good series IMO.

Any time a player takes a shot at the net and that net has a goalie in it and they hit the post, its not because the goalie was in good position or gave them only that. Its because the goalie tried to stop that puck, failed and got lucky.

Leon is the biggest F--ing baby in the league. If you hit the post it means you missed period. You only have 4 guys who can score. One of them is a Canucks player. Ian Cole has 3;goals and 1 assist. If you are so much frigging better you would have won all 3 games so far. Without everyone keying on McCrybaby you wouldn’t get as many chances as you do. Couldn’t even give a rookie goalie any recognition. Poor sportsmanship. We’ve seen it in the past when he has called out even his own teammates. I wonder if anyone on his own team likes him. Blames everything on someone else. No character. Just a big whiner.

You're right Leon, post may not mean good goaltending, but it does mean terrible offence since hitting post does not even count as a shot on goal, so you might want to pick up your game instead of whining. PS: oh and If Silovs 42 saves out of 45 is not good goaltending in your books, I wonder how would you describe Skinners performance tonight Leon letting in 4 out of 15

You guys should listen to the actual interview before criticizing Draisaitl. He was asked, "You guys hit the post 4 or 5 times tonight, how much of that is luck and how much of that is just good goaltending?". Obviously, he is right. Hitting the post has nothing to do with good goaltending, it's just offensive players missing the net. I'm a Canucks fan.

Silovs' positioning causes him to hit the post during the breakaway, gave him little to no room to score. So I would say yes, it's good goaltending.

The better team always comes out on top. Boeser got a hat-trick and Silovs played lights out against the Oilers. Used to like Draisaitl but his salty sore loser no respect attitude has turned me away
