The guys constantly bashing Leon believing his 10 wins in a row mean nothing are ruining the sport, the UFC has been catering to the fighters who have more attention rather than skill/achievement. We end up in the strange situation where Leon doesn’t get his chance. It’s pretty obvious if the UFC made a top ranked fight and wins his stardom would build up anyway. Instead we have Jorge who’s 12-8 in the UFC getting two shots at the belt, despite his first attempt being a joke. Leon on the other hand is 11-2-1 arguably 12-2 in the UFC. It seems at this point Leon just has to do something crazy and out of character just to get all the eyes for a big fight.

The second title shot to Masvidal was undeserved but the champ wanted it and he was active, so why not. Leon arguably lost via DQ to #13 Belal and then beat unranked Diaz. 13 fighters have beaten Diaz and only Leon and Conor were the only fighters to come close to getting rocked against pillowfist Diaz. And Conor was a featherweight. His last ranked win was RDA, the RDA that got beaten by Colby and Usman already and since the Leon loss, RDA had won in another division already. Leon needs another win especially to make a promo package and to make fans interested in him and the rematch with Usman. Now the most recent memories of Leon are eye-poking Belal and then getting rocked by Diaz. Win over the same person don't count the same, contexts matter. Leon should think about it like this: although there is very good chance usman beats colby again, in (november) if he does, he wont fight again till March/April next year at the earliest. if colby wins (big IF) colby and usman will likely do a trilogy.
