After seeing this video for a second time, Riddles wasn't that predictable (Except after a Jab, when he almost always air dodge in) But even if he get punished only for the Roll/tech in, he does a lot of techs out/neutral. I think the major fact that made him lose is his punish game Lots of Time he got a EWGF on Leon and didn't get the reward for it (a stock), he dropped to much combo after finally touching this damn Chrom Otherwise, Leon reacted to lots of his options, playing as safe as possible

Honestly watching the whole set it's pretty clear riddles was playing below his best. Leon played well enough to capitalize hard on it. This could setup a Salty Suite runback.

This is one of the sets I wanted to watch. Leon was one of the players I liked in Brawl, and I even looked for inspiration in his Marth as a Smash 4 Corrin main (yes, Corrin). Glad to see this veteran still playing at this level and making such a huge upset.

This is why I hate roll from ledge as an option. More often than not it just screws me lol. I'll do it once in like 10 games, and it always gets read/punished somehow. Like I'll roll on at percent's where I won't die for it, every now and then, but at kill percent, I practically REFUSE to do it now. Still unlucky though it's easy to be tempted to use it to get stage control.

@bert true but even then, people make his recovery sound worse than it is. Just think of all the times peanut has recovered as little mac. Chrom can make it back as well because it's almost always a mixup with what option he will choose. Mostly it's between airdodge to the ledge and up b. I don't think any character can cover both at the same time, so its always a mixup between the two

@@greedo194 in that set, while mr r was getting hit by the counter he still had multiple opportunities to make it back by air dodging or spacing his up b correctly so that chroms body doesn't go above the ledge.

@greedo194 and the up b vs air dodge mixup is no where near reactable. Most of the distances where chrom can airdodge to ledge he is also in range to up b anyone who tries to punish his airdodge

People don't understand that Chrom is a top Tier character. He really is, he's just held.back by his recovery, this character can do almost everything a character needs. He can play solid neutral, he has solid mixups, he has phenomenal combos that always leads to offstage edge guarding and frame traps or 50/50s, outside of back throw he has really good grabs, and even back throw with platforms can be used for great mixups. He has juggling of a god, good luck landing against Chrom, cuz he can frame trap ur landing because of Jab and Dtilt. And he has the best anti air with Jab. Not to mention solid defensive game with his speed and up b oos which is massive. He has everything he ever needs, kill setups too, but again, he's fucked by recovery and because his recovery is so easy to edgeguard, and because of that, he goes from being a monster to "if u can beat him in neutral once, u win" kind of deal, and if u dont play perfect with chrom ur not winning. There's a reason the highest peak Chrom had was in 2019, shortly after leffen took it over Mr.R, people started learn to edge guard Chrom, and they learned it's so fuckin easy and streamlined. U scare Chrom into going low or high and cover his rising or landing. Done it's so simple. And low angle move that sends off stage fucks em too. Chrom kazuya is def Chrom favored. But Kazuya can just input back throw and forces a double jump, and Kazuya just has to wait for up b and then use an invincible low kick to edge guard. just like that it's ggs

Leon is a veteran french player in smash. He is part of those who first meet gluto at his beginning and was the best player (in the past when the played smash 4) that's the first time I see him play Chrom cuz he is a lucina main, but looks like it worked pretty well. Hope my comment help you out
