Hard to believe that this maybe the ONLY full length filmed concert of Mr Redbone.

I had the privilege of seeing Leon Redbone and Dan Levinson in concert at the Roxy theater in northampton PA around 1994. Leon lived in Bucks county and used to play a fair number of shows in the eastern PA area and was well known and adored. The Northampton show actually took place during an ice storm and the theater, already sold out, was without a single empty seat such was the love for his talent. The performance was magic. I've never seen a better show, and I only regret I never caught another one of his live shows.

R.I.P. to an incredible artist. I wish I had a backyard and boxes of money to give him. Imagine the festivities.

The way he created an atmosphere was magical. The banter with the audience and band, the clothes, the manner of presentation, the music, they all combined to take you out of the present and into some comfortable mythic American past. A genuine master and a genius performer.

Leon was a unique character on and off the stage. Very underrated and always entertaining. Say hello to Louis , Jerry Roll and Fats Waller. We'll miss you.

One of the things I love best about these live performances is seeing how much Mr. Redbone genuinely enjoyed the music. There's a joy to his playing that you don't always see. He really got a kick out of the music he was performing.

Mr. Redbone, you have been my favorite musician and performer for more years than I care to count. I don't know if you read these posts, but I wish to simply say that you've brought many smooth moments to my life. Great songs. Great selection of musicians. Great arrangements. And your classic voice, bringing back memories and history. Wishing you the best in your retirement to the Lazy River. If you ever are out on the West Coast, my home is yours. Good whisky and cigars on the porch of a rural mountain cabin.

This is a wonderful take, thanks for sharing this, it's like having him in my backyard, putting this on at home. And they play, and he sings and sobs, so good! His voice really at his best, despite coughing and grunting, the layback setting...wish I was there!

WHO'S GONNA CARRY ON? Now that Redbone's gone and Jimmy Rogers died back in 1933, who's gonna carry on that New Orleans jazz sound? There's no one left! That's what I liked about Leon--his Jimmy Rogers New Orleans jazz sound.

He kept alive the music from the past before he was born, and did a great job at it. I saw him live once in the early 70's, I think in Bryn Mawr PA
