Still one of my favorite movies of all time. Beautiful soundtrack, beautiful story, beautiful characters. As a little girl, I was in love with Leon (I understand you, Mathilda! lol), and he still remains my favorite hit man ever. Jean Reno was perfect.
@TheBrendadale10 жыл бұрын
The Professional...I think the most perfect movie I've ever seen! Jean Reno, Natalie Portman, and the always crazed and illustrious Gary Oldman! That movie was a perfect combination of story and actors at a perfect time! Jean Reno and Natalie have never done anything again as wonderful as that movie! Gary Oldman, of course, has done so many great movies, before and since. Nonetheless, The Professional is a movie it would be hard for Hollywood to match. I could watch that movie a hundred times over, and still love it every time!!!

"Shape of my heart" is one of my favorite songs of Sting. There are times when you watch a movie, music and scenes are so inter-connected that you have come to wonder if they were especially crafted for the movie itself. Leon is one of those movies as though the film was just created for the purpose to have the audience immerse in the even poetical lyrics of Sting. The sad yet hopeful ending of clumsy-desperate love story ensued by the beautiful melody accentuated the emotions of the audience which I'm certain the feelings lingered with them long after the end credit.

I am just watching this film for my first time at a few days ago Jan 2017. I view some comments on my country websites as well. One girl said, she had never watched it till 2015 by then she just graduated from university. She thought she would have been learned Franch and been to France if she could view it earlier before. For the Leon--Jean Reno. Very touching story and actors. I don't think I will forget it.

A song that's honestly so heartfelt. Like it just gives me sadness, of the battles and journeys I'm on, and thats still taking place with my life every single day. A song filled with raw emotions and feelings with a film that is truly memorable, unforgettable, legendary, and filled with emotions that you honestly can't help but feel alongside the characters & the emotional story behind it. A film & song where its just pure black and white, a film & song that has such strong emotions & feelings from/to your heart. Its a film where you just feel pure raw emotion as if you're the character or if you're seeing it first hand in person. A film with such a perfect selection of a cast with such underrated actors such as Jean Reno, Natalie Portman debuting in her first ever film which launched her acting career, Gary Oldman, and so many others. A film with such an emotional bond that you honestly can't explain it fully, its something that you honestly have to feel it to experience it. Its a film that's meant to be experienced through emotion, not through explanation just like Leon whenever you would see his character's facial expressions of what he would feel, like the amount of strong emotion behind it, is incredible, especially towards the end of the movie where you'd expect it to end off in a happy ending but it ends sadly. It can't be described fully in words, just through your own heart & emotion, especially with how perfect the film was, like there's no flaws with it. It's a film filled with strong emotional, action-packed storyline and soundtracks that honestly make you feel sad for Leon and Mathilda as if you're a part of them. Jean Reno truly nailed the performance like hes so underrated, and it really shows the amount of talent Natalie had which started her career in one of the greatest films of all time like all the roles were nailed perfectly. Its just a masterpiece. Not only that but this movie didn't have much of a budget either, and it turned out to be so successful and one of the greatest films of all time, which you can't deny, its something that everyone agrees on, like it or not, it is. Luc Besson the director literally nailed it & also proved how even at the time you didn't need that need such a huge budget to accomplish these things, and what an era it was, and what a big name for European Films if not the greatest European film, in comparison with American films that need such a big budget to accomplish the effects, it really shows the difference between the two as all thats needed is raw emotion. Such a masterpiece, a film like I said filled with such an emotional bond that you honestly can't explain it fully, its something that you honestly have to feel it to experience it. Truly unforgettable, memorable and much more. I honestly wish it got more credit that it was unfortuantely given, it honestly deserved so much credit, especially an award for Jean Leno and his performance. Such a perfect selection, such a perfect story, film, and of course music selection. One of the few films where you experience raw emotion, and feelings.

I 'discovered' this movie just about a week ago after looking at and listening to a video of the song by Sting set to scenes from the movie, even though the film was originally released all the way back in 1994. I have since viewed two other similar videos as well as some of the trailers, video clips and behind the scenes discussions about the movie itself. I found a copy of the movie to watch and I am about one third of the way through it. I simply can't remove the scenes of this beautiful, amazing and young Natalie Portman and the echoes of this song from replaying over and over again in my mind's eye. Set against the backdrop of extreme violence, abuse and neglect and juxtaposed against the tender affections and caring that this grown man offers to this seemingly 'innocent' little girl, the movie is a brilliant portrayal of what so many youngsters today experience in their own neglected and 'fend for yourselves' urban lives in so many big cities around this world. These two things - the song and the movie - paired together and delivered by these very talented actors and the artist Sting are simply AMAZING! Thank you Victoria Venom for sharing your own video with those of us who are still in awe.

This was a perfect song to close out the film. From that intense final fight to the events leading to the end of the movie with Matilda and Leon's plant, and then this plays and you're just like wow. Kinda calms you down a bit to recollect what happened and ponder what might have become of young Matilda as she grew up. RANDOM THOUGHT: I always though it'd have been cool to do a sequel to Leon where she is now a "cleaner" herself. I mean, Natalie Portman has done some action since this film.

A brilliant film with with very good performances not even mentioned at film awards that year. Natalie Portman was a stand out one for me. i loved Jean Reno character. Gary Oldman was well played nasty bastard :)

He is best known as the principal songwriter, lead singer, and bassist for the influential new wave rock band The Police and for his subsequent solo career. Lyrics to “Shape of My Heart”: He deals the cards as a meditation And those he plays never suspect He doesnt play for the money he wins He doesnt play for the respect He deals the cards to find the answer The sacred geometry of chance The hidden law of probable outcome The numbers lead a dance I know that the spades are the swords of a soldier I know that the clubs are weapons of war I know that diamonds mean money for this art But thats not the shape of my heart He may play the jack of diamonds He may lay the queen of spades He may conceal a king in his hand While the memory of it fades I know that the spades are the swords of a soldier I know that the clubs are weapons of war I know that diamonds mean money for this art But thats not the shape of my heart Thats not the shape, the shape of my heart And if I told you that I loved you Youd maybe think theres something wrong Im not a man of too many faces The mask I wear is one Those who speak know nothing And find out to their cost Like those who curse their luck in too many places And those who smile are lost I know that the spades are the swords of a soldier I know that the clubs are weapons of war I know that diamonds mean money for this art But thats not the shape of my heart Thats not the shape of my heart kzbin.info/www/bejne/pIe8d4Kii6dgi9E

Still probably my favourite film along with True Romance hard to separate the two. Jean Reno is perfect in this role and Gary Oldman pure genius....yes it's sad and melancholic but I defy anybody to watch it and not say it's a fantastic film.

She healed him so he could redeem. Everyone deserve a second chance - Yes even, your strongest enemy needs love. Mathilda gave more love in that short time with him - Than in his entire life... Sacrifice him to protect her from becoming even worse than he was to be.. Yes , it was a controversial love from Matilda - but remember that those two had LOST EVERYTHING in life.. Leon was a tortured and tormented soul, she just gave him sincerity and love - a candid love. Matilda heard the mafia killing everyone - Saw her father dead in blood - She knew that her little innocent. brother was killed too. She was chocked and alone, but she was strong enough to stay alive, not giving into craziness. Leon and Matilda shared the same feelings - have lost all and loneliness for life. She saw Leon as a lover - husband despite his age. He saw Matilda as the daughter he loved to have. She wanted to live with him as wife / husband He wanted to keep her away from " cleaning" No "pedo" thing here - in that actual scenario ( scenario was modified ). For the Judgers: - IN THIS CONTEXT, what if - if it was US or YOU, IN THAT SITUATION of someone who just see death, knocking at your door, asking you "help me" will you just ignoring it, KNOWING that she WILL be killed, if you ignore her? - Letting her get killed to satisfy morality?.. And still looking at you in the glass ? - IN MANY YEARS of sufferings / loneliness / torments, who can predict the way that we will react. Leon just wanted to protect Mathilda.. he wouldn' t had open his door. NO ONE have the right to JUDGE someone else.. Only God Can...

She gave the Italian Hitman feelings he never knew he had. The first night he wanted to put Matilda out of his Misery because he was afraid of making attachments in his line of work. What burns deep is for once in his life he actually loved someone other than himself. When Leon died it burned my soul cause he gave up everything to protect Matilda even if it meant dying. Wich explains why he had Matilda have his earnings under his will.

Leon : Nerede ? Mathilda : Karnımda. Sıcacık. Hep orada bir yumru olurdu. Ama şimdi geçti.
