As I listen to Leona sing her songs, I think of all the stories our Heroes have shared with us about the heartaches, pain & love stories. They told us many times of what they did, & what not to do, but we didn't listen & still don't. Our Heroes are slowly going away & good Country Music is going away with it. Your "Cheatin' Heart" is played at every dance, every night of the week & will be heard forever., but today's # 1 won't be heard after next week, ever again..... what does that say to you...?

I am glad she finally left "him"(Merle), that eventually led Merle to Theresa, where he finally found someone who made him happy and gave him two more beautiful children. I have never been a fan of Leona's, I think she married just to ride the coat tails of Merle. I know someone here will not like that comment, but it's my opinion,,,,, I think her son, Ron, has a much better voice and surprised he isn't more popular!
@phyllisferguson33206 жыл бұрын
Merle had many charted hits that were written by Leona Williams while they were married and she was riding his coattails.This song is just one of them.🤔

Let's face it. We wouldn't be on here listening to this if we didn't enjoy hearing Leona Williams. I had never heard of her until I was playing Merle videos and her name came up. Wow, she could put her story into words. I've listened to her songs a lot since then. The problem with stars like this, it is hard to make it work when they are both in the industry. Merry go round for sure. I think it worked with his wife Theresa because she wasn't in the business. She made him happy and you can tell by the way they looked at each other, there was so much love and respect. Having their two sweet children was certainly good for both of them.

Actually Merle married Debra Parrot after Leona and before Teresa. He was married to her for several years. Leona was well known-as a song writer before Merle and he remained friends with her as he did with Bonnie Owens.
