I love this man and his music. Unfortunately, most people did not appreciate him and still don't. I read all the books about him and listen to most of his music which i find beautiful. I think partially because Sony refused to produce his records. How sad. Unfortunately, I was unaware of him only until 2 yrs after his death and even now when I play it for other people they still do not appropriate him. I think he really did not care about fame but now I realize he had followers around the world and still has. All his back up singers were fabulous as well as his band. Wish there were more live concerts recordings. I came to this country in early 70's and the only song i ever heard was "Save the last song for me", had no clue who sang it.

Which country are you in? I assume the USA because, like you, I didn't know of Cohen's existence until KZbin. 😥 I missed out on so much because the radio didn't play his music and his Various Positions album wasn't even sold in the USA.

Save the last Song for Me? I've never heard that and I own ALL of his poetry books and albums that are obtainable, plus of course his novels.

I am a Criminal Minds fan. One night I was working and heard a song on the TV - Leonard doing "I'm your man". I said WHO IS THAT MAN?? Found it online and was hooked. Started streaming and collecting. Bought tickets, but missed the concert due to a family emergency. He died only a few years later. I wept.

Sony is the company that bought Columbia Records. Columbia had in-house producers, but artists can choose their own producers, as did Cohen, and as does Dylan.

Much love to the great artist Leonard Cohen - only saw him once - live in NYC - Carnegie Hall.....but have listened and loved him and his music and wisdom since I was a kid down South. A true original...........much love.............thanks for posting! Cheers

Oh my, oh my! Your lyricism, Mr Cohen, is absolutely spellbinding. I can never predict where your songs are going, your words too original to anticipate. I follow them, spellbound, as they thread me through the labyrinth, always leading me to a place of beautiful grace. I am captivated by your artful word choice. How thankful am I for the work you produce? I am profoundly grateful. Greedily, I yearn for more and more songs from you, and I am saddened that there is no one producing anything approaching the quality of what you do, when really I should be grateful that you are here at all.

What an amazing man ! The lyrics and music he wrote came from the deepest part of his inner self. Just saying "heart and soul" isn't enough. I spent a couple of days listening to all of his music and it was quite a journey. I can't help but feel sad that he has passed but his life was lived hard. The music grabs your heart and the lyrics tell the story of his wandering through life and his loves. His music lives on and will be enjoyed throughout the world for many many generations to come.

In Shock. My GURU is nothing now but an Engraving on the Heart of The World. The LP version of this very recording has AL-WAYS been my favourite, consistent, album he did. The Recent Songs tour; so How Odd that that record was his Very Most under-rated in all his Tome. Will be reading Beautiful Losers again, asap. Always `knew` the man as poet/author/entertainer in no particular order. Lucky to own a few Canadian1st editions of his Poetry books and B.Losers...(didnt get on with The Favourite Game tho..) Oddly, my own Father passed away this year, and I ENSURED his voice singing `Hallelujah` brought us into the church... Strange twist on THAT now for me personally too. I believe he had NO `Fans`...we were all just extended `friends-by-proxy`. Love Itself will need time to mend...

Cohen bought a house on Hydra Island in Greece in the1960's where he developed as a poet and discovered his singing voice. He met Marianne and spent 8 -10 years there. The cover commemorates a Greek amphitheater and the deceased Leonard sits there... and I say deceased because his back is symbolically turned away from us, meaning we can't see Leonard no more. .. He sits there may be thinking of Shakespeare's saying ... 'If music be the food of love, play on"
