Common sense- hmm ? I agree! Hello fellow Cohen fan, from Canada- he was so accomplished at keeping a straight face and sending himself up, wasn't he?! Have you heard- novel number 3! is being released in September- I already pre-ordered- The Ballet of Lepers and 14 short stories- he had it "simmering" on Hydra during the writing of Beautiful Losers- "God is alive, magic is afoot "....Namaste

Leonard was truly a Cohen. Such wisdom for the people. For me, Leonard will always be a man who spoke to the soul, not necessarily his own "plight" per se, but I believe he wrote for others as much as for himself. He observed and analyzed behaviours of others, sometimes himself involved, to a degree, but mostly what we can all relate to. We are here, why waste time. Share and bear the soul. Everyone should write poetry, paint, take pictures and be inspired. You never needed a certificate. Just hopefully you have two legs and two arms, eyes to see the beauty around you, the colours around you. How you experience them, is how you perceive them. Share them with the world around you. Someone will notice...this is the human condition. You can be in relation, without a ring on your finger. Engage yourself to the moments life brings. Embrace the darkness and the light, both have been given to us. Grace from God, He made them both, for His purposes and our benefits. we have ups and downs. we always will. keep going ahead... theres more to life than what it brings...stop killing what was never dead... A story from long ago, talks of a dry path made by parting a sea... to trust and move forward, GO THROUGH the waters, is a true destiny. Don't be afraid of your potential, success and failure have nothing to do with human will, we were never born with either. And if you believe you are one or the other, you don't know the meaning of life. Life is too short to limit oneself to the constrains of the worldview. Keep it safe and respectable, never down someone else, don't over sexualize anything, meaning pervert anything, and listen before speaking. You will learn so much from someone else who has been there, wherever you are in life right now. Inspire others without YOU as the focus, thats not cool. Just be creative and share. Have a wonderful day.

Thanks so much for publishing these, man - they're vital elaborations on Leonard's work and thought. Irving Layton said Cohen's chief concern was maintaining the Self against a world set on steamrolling over it, and I think this video compliments that nicely. You're doing his fans a great service.

If you would be a man speak what you think today in words as hard as cannon balls, speak your latent conviction, and it shall be universal sense; for always the inmost becomes the outmost - and our first thought is rendered back to us by the trumpets of the Last Judgment. Mr. Cohen, you rule.

Hello Albias, thank you for uploading all these videos. I wanted to ask you something. A couple of days ago I realized there are subtitles here in youtube. And also that it's possible to translate them... if you have the permission. So, I'd like to ask you if you could turn on the "community contributions" or whatever is called that option in English, so that I can translate your videos into Spanish. At least I'd like to give it a try with this short and perfect ;) video.

Why do you say they're ignorant?
@gunnarrundblad684610 ай бұрын
It seems to me that he's addressing the Wooke (for whome ignorance is almost a religion!). The interviewer's questions also seem so trivial and lame, in sharp contrast to Cohen's deeply felt and thought through ideas, shining through his playful wit, which lubricates this collision beautifully! This tiny documentation is a gem!

I have to say after just watching this interview, that I'm a little puzzled by his sarcasm. He was consistently humble and gracious in the the many others I've viewed. At the very beginning, the interviewer seems to have called him by the wrong name, "Mr. Graham?" Did anyone else catch that? It's the only thing I can think of that might have pissed him off, leading to his sarcastic responses. I've always believed Cohen to be a deeply emotionally honest man in his work, but now I don't know whether to believe he means his words.
@schumachersbatman50946 жыл бұрын
They say trust the art, not the artist. We caught Cohen in a rare great mood, so he is having fun in the cheeky way he sometimes does. Lennard was a real person like the rest of us, can't be somber all the time, thank god. I thought it was a great interview. Maybe he spoke with some irony, but if he did, well really, what's it to ya?
@MegaSassy456 жыл бұрын
It means a lot to me. I'm a very latecomer to the feast at this table, so catching up with his life and music, trying to learn and understand who he was. I adore his work.
@MegaSassy456 жыл бұрын
No, not confused. We all have different perceptions of what is sarcastic and what is irreverent fun. I knew the Hallelujah and Suzanne, of course, but practically nothing about his body of work beyond that until just before he died. After cramming for months, I'm awed by the beauty and precision of his words, and I admire him greatly. I'm his fan ;-)

He was A Jew- In his writings and Views- Like it or lump it- But if you open your heart and hear him- You'll see his truth! He REFUSED to be "politically correct"- The interviewer was lefty and smug- So Cohen touched on "sarcasm"..!!

I think he might have been anxious about being self centered throughout his life and work, because of his fame and what others could have said about him. I think deep down he knows he cares about a lot of people's work and lives. (If that makes any sense).
