@@Saber23Tbh they’re all punching bags at some point or another in the show. Sheldon is absolutely brutal towards Penny for being uneducated, dumb and slutty. Penny was shown to be somewhat harsh towards Leonard at times, while Leonard also mocked and ridiculed her to the point that she felt insecure about her own intelligence (believing in psychics). Sheldon mocks Leonard’s career relentlessly. Howard ragged on Raj a lot - it wasn’t as toxic as some of the other relationships but it still counts for something. Everyone mocks and humiliates Sheldon for acting the way he does, which he absolutely deserves. The point of the show is that they grow as a group; it’s an anthology of their personal development written across 12 seasons, culminating with all characters addressing and overcoming their trauma at some point in the final season.

He was right: she's never going to change, so the best he could do, for his own well-being, is to work hard on stopping her horrible parenting character from affecting him. In cases like this, forgiveness is not for the benefit of the other person, it's for your own peace of mind. And it's something she can't take credit for. He didn't grow up the great man he is BECAUSE of her crap parenting, but DESPITE it.

@@barbyzz22 Exactly. It was 100% for his own peace of mind. In the whole scene, after he says "I forgive you," she responds, "I didn't ask for your forgiveness." He interrupts her, "It doesn't matter, I forgive you anyways...and I forgive myself for taking so long to do it." And that forgiveness is for HIM. It's for HIS wellbeing. He's so relieved that he finally did it that he has to sit himself down and bask in the weight off his shoulders.

And Penny as well, he often didn't treat her with much respect (repeatedly nagging her about her not wanting children, which she eventually gave into pretty out of nowhere) He cheated on her (and Priya as well) which is hard to forgive. There's character flaws and there's straight up being an asshole, honestly by the last few seasons it felt like they were all being so mean to each other and being bad friends to the point where it just wasn't funny anymore

Johnny plays Leonard soooo well, he adapts 2 ea. character he's doing flawlessly, his films R good, his TV characters R good, it's as if HE becomes the characters he plays. With Leonard's character, he dove extra deep, helping us 2 C & feel the character, all his insecurities, all his loneliness, all his emotional issues with the mother he longed 2 B close 2 & the care he wished he could get frm her. There are stories attached to every character, which due to the frequent laugh tracks and jokes, most people rarely come to recognize, let alone appreciate or empathize with. That's because he was stuck as a character until the maternal Conclusion and it's apt. The trauma he faced isn't easy to grow up from. I had a terrible childhood, an abusive father and i was stuck and confused in my life until I was like 30.

I don't like how people say forgive other people for your own sake, and it doesn't always work either. But in Leonard's case, him forgiving his mother was the kindness his showed himself, accepted his and his mom's relationship was never going to be normal. It was because he deserved that closure. I loved Beverley as a character but hated her as Leonard's mom. She's the worst mother and literally nothing she does to make up is ever going to change the pain she put him through all his life. I'm glad Sheldon changed though and Leonard has friends who love him. He can have a decent, not very close relationship with his parents, but move on in his life with Penny and his child. The last part, I need a a fanfic for it.

Leonards character besides Sheldon is one of the best written characters like without all the laughs you really do see how much pain he was holding inside him for so long and when it came time where it became to much he let it all out which was one of the best scenes of the show because he was finally letting go of the need to have his mother's love and approval for everything and just his entire character development is one of my favorites in any show.

My mom is a lot like Leonard’s, she’s even a psychiatrist, so I really get how he feels. It takes so much work and effort to get to the point where you can accept and forgive your parent if they’re like this. I’ve accepted that my mom is the way she is, but I don’t have it in me to forgive her.

Friends like Leonard are very hard to find. No matter the eccentricites of Sheldon he always stayed by his side, Sheldon may have never been able to portray as a good friend but he was afraid to be alone and Leonard made him into a better person. Leonard is the reason why he was able to evolve and change into a much better person. Having a good friend can make you the best version of yourself and he was always a kind soul who was always there for everyone. Leonard's story with his mother breaks my heart. My mother was a hot mess, but I knew she loved me. I got hugs and cuddles. I got the cold condescension over low A versus high A, but I also was loved. Although the better deeper love feelings came from my Dad. I miss my Dad.
