I believe this refers to Kabballah, where the creation of the universe (and take the rest of this quite symbolically) involved a "vessel" that could not hold the holy Light and fractured, and our job is to find all the pieces. Not in a physical sense of pieces of a ceramic pot, but the parts of the world that reject the divine Light. Unfortunately, people have a vast disagreement of what that Light really is.

Leonard's music is superb and this band is surely his best ever. When Leonard assigned Roscoe Beck to assemble this band he told him "I want the best band on the road this year". Many of this band are virtuosos and notable artists in their own right. It's a perfect display of everyone fitting their contribution to create a perfect whole. It's wonderful that the final act of Leonard's life was to create this masterful line up and give us the best ever performances of his songs.

This video showcases one of the many things I love about Leonard Cohen. I've seen concerts where the singer just quickly runs off the names of the folks in the band. Not Leonard. Look at him when he's introducing the other musicians (like at 6:10 and 6:45): he's not just being polite, he's actually taking a moment to watch them play and really listen to what they're playing. It must have been an incredible honor to perform with him.

On December 10th, I lost everything I own to a tornado. It was the day before my wedding. I got married in a church without electricity. I started picking up the pieces before leaving for my honeymoon. I just found this song the other day, and have been listening on repeat. “The birds they sang At the break of day Start again, I heard them say Don’t dwell on what has passed away Or what is yet to be.” These lyrics give me a lot of hope right now, and speak so much truth in this uncertain time.

The opening introduction and this song will never fail to bear relevance to the listener ever. There is a foundational truth, a plain yet pure philosophy which Leonard sings with his most human voice for all of us. I do not know what to say, friends - there is so much hatred everywhere and even in me some times and it just makes me cry for I am also filled with an immense amount of love which is equally present outside of me if not more. Love is the only thing that keep us alive and fills us with such a wonderment for life itself. Love on, folks. Write letters to your loved ones, keep them loved, bask in their love, spread your love and fight even the tiniest instance of hatred when you see it. We are all equal for love ties us all. Wherever we come from, wherever we go, we come from love and go towards love. If neglect has ruled our lives and robbed us of love, then do not break into the path of hate for love is waiting just around the corner and only expects you to walk for a minute or so more than what you have crossed. Merry Christmas and a happy 2022, mates. - Dec 23, 2021

When I'd heard that Bob Dylan would be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, I immediately thought, "next year will be Cohen's year!". Sadly, LC was gone within the year.

Oh yeah he's your Man, forget your offering ! Even with the crack in everything , he brings the light within every sound .with the tone of his voice . With the words that he speaks! That is how the light gets in. I really love this .but who don't! Who wouldn't. What's not to love .

How beautiful is he when sharing the names of musicians as a part of his life to hold on through the rythm of their hearts beattings. You can feel him close to you at this very instant... Love.

One could say, we were robbed of the delight of having Leonard being with us. Or, we could look at it like Leonard might, and think, we were grateful for the time we had with him.

Incredible performance, and even though it was probably more common back in the day, it's touching the way he introduces every performer to the audience so they can be appreciated. There are plenty of singer/songwriters that would barely even speak to their fellow band members, let alone give them any time on stage to take any adulation.

(google tradutor) I always liked this part of the show, after all, they are all professionals of a high level. Leonard recognized that and should be proud of the group he worked with.

I love how seriously Cohen took his calling. He’s the ultimate ‘stare at the page until beads of blood appear on your forehead’ kind of writer. The never let go tenacity of staring into a song sometimes for years until it emerges. He’ll only get more relevant.
