Good on you mate. As long as you are riding your bike and having fun the rest doesn’t matter. Too much BS in cycling when it should really just be about feeling free and seeing the landscape around you. The fitness and any other positives are just a bonus! Keep up the good work lad 💪🏼

Decided to take this challenge starting May 1st - I’m a small female in my sixties, very overweight so will be happy to keep the mileages low! Plan is to measure time on the bike rather than miles or km’s and I’ll set myself a goal of at least half an hour cycling on work days and two hours each weekend day. I think l’ll combine my challenge with an eat healthier campaign and see if I notice the difference at the end of it - thank you for the idea and the inspiration - I’ll update this note beginning of August with my result, thanks again Leonard 😊👍🏻

Good luck with it. My suggestion would be not not have any limits at all. As long as you have ridden a bike, it counts. The problem with setting higher targets is that they can’t always be met for one reason or another and when they aren’t, it makes you feel like you have failed somehow. This challenge is as much about the mind as it is the body.
@pootlingalong8928

I took your advice and reduced my goal to 15 mins and an hour each weekend day and did manage to stick to it. I tried to think about more healthy food choices and did lose a stone over the period without punishing myself - I love doughnuts and snacks and all the wrong things, but I cut back on them a bit. I’m going to do a June, July and August 2023 trial again to get things together a bit again! Thanks for all your videos, Leonard, I’m not a proper cyclist but I do get so much from your videos. 👍🏻

Nice one Leonard well done, Last year I pushed myself and rode 365 days of the year admittedly some on zwift a minimum of 20km and totaled 22600km over the year as you say Leonard anything is achievable if you put your mind to it and you genuinely want to do it. Enjoy your weekend

Don't set limits. At 70 my wife asked was it time to quit? Daughter said, No. It's my dad, he rides bikes. I then did 1171 consecutive days over 47000 miles. Bad crash . Back since September last to daily rides. It keeps me fit in many ways. I started at 5 and love it still

@@MohammedRABAH depends on your overall condition. I've always been active. In my 70s and ride daily 12 to 15 000 miles yearly. It's what your body tolerates. We're all different. Humans are meant to move. I recover with a protein smoothie, walk with my dog and stretches.

I've done a daily routine (hour a day during work week, two hours a day weekends) until soreness makes me take a day off. Most importantly, I'm far sharper mentally than I've been in the past (sadly, this is as good as it gets). My boss has bought into my mid morning cycling breaks so all this works out!

I dont usually leave comments. However I deeply think this video is inspirational! As you mentioned: the goal is not to lose weight or getting super strong, but to simply fall in love with cycling! The first two come automatically. :) Also just a minor thought for readers: if you are planning to do this challenge also put in weekly recovery ride days, where you dont push too hard and dont go too far. Otherwise overtraining could become a problem. Anyhow! I wish you a good recover from your covid symptoms. It takes quite a while as I also experienced. Best wishes from Vienna!

One way to make daily cycling a lot easier is finding daily trips that you would have to do anyway and doing them on the bike :) Of course that depends a lot on where you live and what your daily routines are, but if it's possible, you might get to 90 days in a row without even trying

I had started bicycle commuting, and even though it is a short to and fro of 3.5km each way, I could already feel a fitness improvement (which I test by climbing stairs). Don't worry about how little you might be cycling as long as you're moving those hips, knees and ankles, keeping yourself balanced, you're much better off.

Wow. Congrats on the perseverance , especially in a period where you were so sick . You should be proud. I took the same challenge …..I got to Florida last week in December and driving home to New England Sunday morning. I am right at 100 days and logged 3113 miles riding every day this entire winter in south Florida on my Catrike 700. One more day to ride then 2-3 days driving 1550 miles home. I can’t believe I did it but the weather here was perfect and warm but windy. And of course there is zero elevation change or climbing here so it’s quite easy. Just have to watch out for all of the iguanas on the trails. Well done for you sir. Keep plugging along!

Good for you Brother! I haven't taken care of myself and because of it, I’m dealing with congestive heart failure and kidney failure attributed to my diabetes. Self-inflicted and self-correcting so I have taken up cycling as an easier and more fun way to get out and exercise. I’m enjoying my rides and my body is adjusting slowly as I increase the distances. I had to get a cargo ebike to get started and just bought a gravel bike that I’ll start using when my conditioning improves and my weight drops. I’ll be able to buy one of your T Shirts after I get a size smaller.

The first of the Writer's Ten Commandments is: "Thou shalt sit thine arse in thy chair." The same goes for cycling. "Thou shalt throw thy leg over thy saddle and peddle." "Wanting to" doesn't have anything to do with it. We go to work when we don't want to, and the same goes for cleaning house cleaning. Why should exercise be any different? It isn't. Leonard well done on your challenge, you have influenced me. I used to cycle commute to work (16 miles a day 5 days a week). In 2019 I did RideLondon (100) and followed their training program which encouraged days off between efforts; I ignored the days off as I had to get to work. Covid forced me into retirement (June 2020) so I now have to reassess. After nearly 2 years of training runs 2/3 times a week and trips to the shops etc. I am unhappy with my fitness. After your videos, I've decided to ride every day that I can. At the moment I have covid so that has to be on the static bike, nerveless every day I shall ride at least for 20 mins. Many thanks, keep on riding.

My advice would be to incorporate your bike in your daily life. So, when you go to the supermarket, you use the bike. Preferably several times a week in small chunks. When you go to your chess club, or whatever club, you use the bike. You wanne pick up food from a pick-up restaurant ? use the bike You wanne meet some friends or family, who life reasonably close, use the bike. You wanne buy a new screw driver? use the bike Go to work (assuming its not rediculous far away) ? use the bike Think you get the point

Well done Leonard for the 90+ days. Keep going, 365 days is certainly very do-able! I'll set you a new target; 555 days! I started cycling every day when the first lockdown started in March 2020. I was now working from home so this was an excuse/reason to get out of the house once a day, and took the place of my daily commute home from the office. I found I thoroughly enjoyed it and kept going every day without (initially) any thought of cycling a certain number of days. Approaching 100 days though I 'needed' to keep going to get to 100. I then kept going to see how many consecutive days I could get. It helped that - with Covid uncertainties - we didn't go away anythere that would have forced missing a few days. Eventually I reached 555 days before we did go on holiday, and I missed 4 days. Several points you made in the video ring true with me. Particularly that I may sometimes go out grudgingly (particularly in not-so-good weather) but nearly always after the first couple of kms I enjoy the ride, desp[ite the conditions!

Main reason I built up a fixed gear bike. Just for short rides, don't have to worry about gearing and I don't have a choice but to keep pedaling. Basically taking away any chance of me making excuses lol.

Great effort - i did around 88 days in a row during lockdown.... didnt put any distance limits on it to begin with, only time, at the start 30 minutes, then 45, then an hour.... after that as much as i could handle.

Congratulations on achieving the 90 day challenge Leonard but let's also shout out to Mrs Lee for giving you her support. Sometimes I have to negotiate with my wife to put in a bike ride instead of getting on with the long list of jobs that need doing around the house and garden. My biggest challenge isn't the lazy slob it's the very long "to do" list !

I am truly impressed with your 90 days challenge especially with covid and flu! I think it is the one kilometr that keep one motivated and should not be changed for more than 5 km :)

If I were a gambling man, I should have put a bet on for you to complete the 90 day challenge. Congratulations Leonard, I knew when someone “dangled the carrot” the incentive would be great. You have given me, and many followers much pleasure from your professional videos. Swop that helmet for a Laurel Wreath Looking forward to many more.

Leonard, I took a page from your book and gave myself a mini challenge. After riding all three days of our Memorial Day weekend, I decided to try riding my tricycle every day for a week, starting June1, 2022. Thr first three of those days had temps in the 90s (F) with high humidity and strong sunshine. I started each of those 3 rides in the early morning. They were short rides of 3 to 4 miles. The next two days (Saturday and Sunday) were temps in the 70s and low humidity; I continued the short morning rides. Today I got up and felt as tho I didn't want to get the trike out. But told myself I had only two days to go -- I couldn't drop out now. I decided I'd just do a very short ride. Once I started riding, the cool, dry weather was so refreshing, I just kept going and ended with a five mile ride. Tomorrow (Tuesday) is my last day. You have all of my respect for being able to ride every day for 90 days!! 👏👏 Well done.
