Anthropogenic climate change is a recorded, occurring phenomenon that has and is affecting the world. It’s just more difficult to show someone a graph of a net increase over decades and have them believe it, than a picture of the earth being spherical.

None of this is rhetoric, and none of it is hysteria. It is fact. The scientific community knows it, industry knows it, governments know it, even the United States military knows it. The Chief of the U.S. Navy’s Pacific Command, Admiral Samuel Locklear, recently said that climate change is our single greatest security threat. My Friends, this body - perhaps more than any other gathering in human history - now faces this difficult, but achievable task. You can make history… or be vilified by it. To be clear, this is not about telling people to change their light bulbs or buy a hybrid car. This disaster has grown BEYOND the choices that individuals make. This is now about our industries, and governments around the world taking decisive, large-scale action. Now must be our moment for action. We need to put a pricetag on carbon emissions, and eliminate government subsidies for oil, coal and gas companies. We need to end the free ride that industrial polluters have been given in the name of a free-market economy, they do not deserve our tax dollars, they deserve our scrutiny. For the economy itself will die if our eco-systems collapse. The good news is that renewable energy is not only achievable but good economic policy. This is not a partisan debate; it is a human one. I'm all for reducing or eliminating pollution and caring for the earth but I completely disagree that climate change is man made, the earth is a dynamic system and has always been a dynamic system, that means change, the geological records show massive geological and climate change in the earth's recent history, so why would that now cease to be the norm? Besides given the levels of corruption, incompetence and unaccountably at the highest levels of government I would never agree to further powers of taxation for yet another "war on something", it's completely ineffective, fought with corruption and unverifiable... how could we ever know that our carbon tax dollars fixed the climate, when or where would the carbon taxation ever end? This is a tax on one of the four fundamental elements for human life, it's the taxation of breathing because that also emits C02 There's always going to be another flood, hurricane, drought etc. etc. etc. that's just the nature of climate. It is absolutely man made. Look at how we've treated our forests, look at how much cattle and pigs we are raising, cars we are driving, planes we are flying, carbon we are releasing. This is not some made up fantasy, this is real. The actions of men have pushed the planet into a period of warming, when ice core records show it should be cooling. What we need is to stop cutting down Earth's lungs, stop pumping out CO2 and methane into our atmosphere and START REVERSING THE PROCESS by planting more trees and building machines that can suck up carbon. It's not simple, but if we do it, then billions of lives will be saved, ecosystems will continue to thrive and our kids will have good clean air to breath. I think he touched upon a point that isn’t often mentioned, that this isn’t a constant rise in temperature or CO2 or methane gas, but there is a positive feedback loop that is quickly accelerating the levels of all three beyond the point of no return. If you look at any biological organism there are mechanisms which maintain homeostasis, but also a point where an attack from a pathogen (us) creates positive feedback in the wrong directions and eventually kills the organism.
