I honestly I think it is crazy that Leonardo just got an Oscar like he is so freaking talented! Leo was a bit off as a young child and teenager. He seemed jittery as if his mind was running a billion miles a minute. But, if you look at his later interviews, when he is in his late teens, he is a lot calmer and soft spoken. He has a great vernacular, even as a young child. I’ve been watching Leonardo my whole life. I don’t pretend I knew he’d be a huge star back when I saw him on Lassie and Growing Pains, but when I saw him in What’s Eating Gilbert Grape and then Marvin’s Room and then Basketball Diaries...I knew that we probably had one of the most talented young artists in Hollywood. He also comes across very differently to the media and interviews than other celebrities. Watch him as a teenager with reporters...he’s very self-deprecating and a little goofy. He doesn’t seem to take all of the fuss very seriously. It seems he knows what he’s doing...having fun in between acting jobs. When the cameras roll...that’s when you see his talent. In interviews, he’s enjoying his life. Having fun. Silly Jokes. Goofy antics. Faces, noises, laughing, etc. You almost expect him to pick his nose or scratch his butt. He doesn’t seem like he’s putting on some fake persona to impress anybody. He’s just saying...this is ME...like me or leave me. Where it really gets real for me is when he takes on a role and pours 1000% of himself into it. I love good acting. Period.
