Kavakos must be probably the greatest master of neurological response who ever lived. The way he reacts quickly to the thought is exuberant. The mind processes so quickly that some passages always seem to be faster than common understanding reaches.

Kavakos has his own technique in his hands cause they are so big if you notice. He don't has the standard grip as you see cause of this... He is a legend tho already !

He has his own technique to fit his hands. If you notice, against all bow grip instructions his thumb is straight and actually uses it in his bowing. Gives him unique sound.

@aegeanenjoyer668 Жыл бұрын
Yeah he's using the Wieniawski grip and his violin is more "in front" of him than it usually is with 99% of violinists (more toward the left shoulder/arm). Hirschhorn had a similar placement but with a different bow grip. Dueñas too. It looks like the modern setup of violin placement (basically shoulder rest placement) and Belgian bow grip is just weaker and produces a cookie cutter sound most of the time.

@@thatoneguywholovesthena-4529yes he uses the original bowing for that part here, contrary to many contemporary violinists. If you listen to Ruggiero Ricci's recording from 1950 something, (one of if not the first recording of this piece) you'll hear him playing with the same bowing.

It’s strange, when you’re used to technical perfection from this guy I get shocked by the odd out bit of dodgy intonation. Still a fantastic performance though.

You have no idea how difficult this piece is. I'm not saying your wrong, he made mistakes, but every musician makes mistakes. This piece in particular is infamous for its level of difficulty, and it's important to consider the fact that even soloist such as Kavakos still improve and learn well into their careers.
@jacc888884 жыл бұрын
Rowan Jones Fair enough! I do know how hard it is as I’ve played it and my performance was many leagues lower than this performance I can assure you! I’m not sure why i made the comment , I guess it was the first time i realised Kavakos was human 😉( from a technical point of view anyway).
@rowanjones14354 жыл бұрын
@@jacc88888 Thanks for being civil and understanding. You can't always expect so in KZbin comments. I'm glad your point of view has changed, because wow! Kavakos can really play! And it can be hard to remember that he's still human. But thinking about it I can see why you might have been uncomfortable with how he performed. (And good on you for being able to even perform this. I'm sure you put in QUITE a few hours)

I'd agree that Heifetz is the much better violinist overall, the older recordings of Kavakos are like nothing I've ever seen, this isn't him at his best. While this isn't the best quality video, watch this and tell me Paganini himself could have played the piece with more accuracy: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bYjYgZ9_rZlqndk
