@MeribelNova
@MeribelNova 11 ай бұрын
@@justforever96 I absolutely agree. It's just so unfortunate that, in some cases, works like these are doomed before their intended time. If it were a crime spurred of the feeling elicited by the work, that would almost be a twisted compliment to the artist. But for no clear reason? A tragedy 😭
@HarleyHerbert
@HarleyHerbert 10 ай бұрын
Sadly a lot of people either don't understand the value of art or simply don't care and have no respect for the art or the people who made it. Works of art in public getting defaced like this happens all the time and while it's awful there's not much that can be done about it as there's always someone stupid enough or a big enough asshole to want to do this. If you ever make any pieces that will be in public unfortunately you'll have to take into consideration that this sort of thing might happen. I've had it happen a couple of times myself and personally I find it makes me more annoyed than upset, not just because they wrecked something I made, but because they've now imposed on other people's experience of my work, people who took the time to come and see it and so deserve to see the finished work at its best rather than vandalised and altered by some random idiot who just wanted to be a jerk. Some artists though have incorporated the fact this might happen into their work, so at least some people have found a positive in it. If you can get away with showing copies rather than the original piece, such as digitally scanning any hand made pieces and showing a printed copy of that scan instead, if someone damages it the original is still there. Or make backup copies of things so nothing is completely lost. Of course it all depends on the medium of the artwork, as sculptures like this obviously can't be protected like this but any 2D works like drawings, paintings, photos etc can be copied and reprinted, and digital work like films or animations can be backed up on multiple devices. Also if you make anything physical make a habit of taking clear photos of it if you aren't already so that in the event that the work is destroyed you can still have the photos to use as reference and evidence so that at least something of it still survives and can be used. You won't be able to keep everything you ever make so it's useful in the long run anyway.

For the first video, she said it was because the lady tended to let white students say their full names, but removed the mic from black students real fast. Others students from many ethnicities later said that it wasn't true and we have now the full video showing that it is indeed a lie. The lady had to switch the mic between two lines of students to let them state their full names, and it was super fast, regardless of skin color. Importance of context I guess^^.

@@SmittenKitten. Sounds like a good book, however, getting a child to read a book titled “The Fallacy Detective” sounds… a bit difficult to say the least! But I agree. In my opinion, the most essential benefit of children developing a desire to read is that reading expands one’s horizons. It allows children especially to see the world through the many different perspectives of the main characters and such. As well as enhancing their imaginative faculty, which in turn increases their inquisitiveness and overall comprehension abilities.

The woman who threw soup reminded of my day working at Starbucks. I had more than one instance of a customer throwing a hot drink at me. I dodged one of them and the other couple I was able to slam the drive thru window before it made it inside. I’d always ask to be the one to tell the person they were banned from our store the next time they came in. If someone would have hit I probably would’ve gotten fired because I have enough patience to deal with a missed thrown drink properly but I do not have the patience to deal with one that hit its mark.
