Wonderful information. Thank you so much. I am glad of knowing about the gelly roll pen and that it is not archival and will yellow over time. I did not know that. Is Very good to know. I do Graphite pencil and so far I just leave the paper white and work around the areas and I use an eraser too. I love the Tombow mono eraser, it is great for thin lines and small details. I may try the indenting with a tool. Thank you for your videos.

For my Leopard Eye which was my first drawing with whiskers I used my embossing tool. I think it's the best method for me because the gel pen is soo bright and it's to hard for me to erase these thin lines😂

Nice video. Thank you. There is also a method that can be used with colored pencil and that is with clear masking tape and a pencil or pointy object of some sort. You gently place the tape over the area you want a white whisker or hair, and lightly draw that hair onto the tape. The tape will stick to the colored pencil only where you applied pressure (the line) and will lift right off when you remove the tape. Just be very careful to not lift pencil anywhere the rest of the tape is touching. I hope that makes sense.

I've heard of that method! I tried it a few times but it didn't really work. It might be the type of tape or paper I use though

I like to use the Brush & Pencil titanium white powder for highlights and whiskers and then go over them with my coloured pencils (where needed). However, sometimes I use the blunt side of a needle to scratch the whiskers into the paper.

You can also use titanium white acrylic paint and apply it with a fine liner brush. Or just use an EXACTO knife to scratch our the whiskers. Both these methods leave a nice tapered fine line making the whiskers look very realistic.

Sure! Lots of artists do that, but it is one of the more time consuming methods.

Tombow doesn’t work on coloured pencils, gel pens are not archival, and the embossing tool is not the best method as it is impossible to determine the effect BEFORE placing the coloured pencils on the paper. The BEST solution for whiskers is either using Titanium white from Brush and Pencil or simply etch using the edge of an exacting knife if the substrate is white.
