I did not count, maybe 12. I think you said the word the right amount of time ;)

The perfect amount, I agree. You have a pleasant voice, good pacing, you're easy to understand, and your work is beautiful. Thank you for doing this - I am a colored pencil artist and am going to get into pastel, but it's good to know I can fall back into colored pencils if I don't click with pastel as much as anticipated.

That was simply lovely. Thank you so much for your tutorials. I started using colored pencils a few months ago and can’t believe how quickly my skills have come along thanks to generous artists like you posting KZbin videos and sharing your talent.

Following up on Tammy Stevens comment about using a solvent…This does work nicely on Pastelmat, helps blending and coverage which helps reduce the need of putting down so much pencil. Thus helping negate the “eating up” of your pencils. 😊👍

Thank you so much for showing the reference photo! Very helpful to see 'where you're headed.' I'm about to give Pastelmat and colored pencils a try. Do you ever use solvents with Pastlemat? That may help with color vibrancy.

My favorite substrate, drafting film is great likewise 😊one can mix media with pastels on Pastelmat. I do it carefully.
@tammystevens22694 жыл бұрын
Have you tried using a solvent with colored pencil, or watercolor paint or pencils on pastel mat? Pastel mat will take wet media but takes a long time to dry.

I just started using Pastelmat for the first time using Polychromos, and I watched a lot of tutorials by artists who love drawing on Pastelmat with colored pencil. They all say that it's not true that Pastelmat "eats up the pencils", because it's the frequent SHARPENING that does this. With Pastelmat you don't need to keep a sharp point like you would on other papers, so the frequent sharpening is not necessary. I find this is true: the pigment seems to come off very easily from the pencil. I don't need to press as hard and I don't need sharp points in order to get the pigment onto the Pastelmat. I love that! Working in this way I don't find my Polychromos get eaten up at all. 😊☀

I love myself a sharp point all of the time, also on pastelmat. I find my points stay sharp longer on my other paper like canson 1557, just because it doesn't have that texture that pastelmat has. Thanks for elaborating though!
@queenria7 Жыл бұрын
@@Leontinevanvliet Ah yes, then I understand. I don't like sharp points even on normal paper because I feel I am wasting my pencils if I keep them sharp all the time. 😄

Can you use pastels pencil on top of colour pencil
@FineArtforChrist4 жыл бұрын
If you are still wondering, no I would not recommend using pastels on top of colored pencils. Colored pencils are either wax or oil based so most likely the pastel won't stick to it. It would work fine to use the pastels first. However if you plan on using a solvent, you should separate the pastel layer from the colored pencil layer with a fixative. This way the colored pencil will be affected by the solvent but the pastel will be left alone. This will help to avoid making a paste from the pastels while still giving you smooth blending. Hope this is helpful!

Hi Leontine, which brand of pencils will you recommend? Is it worth to buy a tin of 120 pencils? Thank you. I am thinking to be a Patreon for $7 or $10 ;)
@Leontinevanvliet4 жыл бұрын
The polychromos for colored pencils and Stabilo for pastel pencils! Though it's still a personal choice. You don't need such a large tin from the start. But it's totally worth it if you can afford it!
