I like Guitar Rig. In a production environment, for recording my guitarist, and producing his guitar parts, this is exactly what I need. Nothing beats a real guitar amp and the performances that a real amp inspires. So we record his dry signal from the guitar along with his tube amp mic'd up. Having both options or a hybrid of both is extremely versatile. And it's just as effective on keyboards, bass and vocals, drum loops and pretty much everything. It's also very good at enhancing virtual synths that need a little help.

One of the strong sides of this plugin is its versatility. It's also easy on resources and just works. At least, I struggle to recall a single time when it caused any problems and/or crashed a session.

Great video brother! I used Guitar rig 5 for the longest time before the axe fx 2. It's a great tool for practicing by simply connecting to your computer, but I feel it has considerable catching up to do with other modern plugins these days. For me nothing gives me the dynamic feel like the axe fx, but this has some decent tones in there. Loved your take on this, thanks for going so in depth! Are you using the trial version? Still has the 30 min limit?

I have the 5 and the 6. Folks telling me all the time what are you using for tone on this tune? your Axe XF? Neural? i say its a patch i made from guitar Rig 5 . Some Guitar players should concentrate on their playing rather then Judge VST or Hardware via advertisement on what sound good or not. Yes good gear help motivate you to play better, but mostly its in your fingers.

I've always liked NI's 'rack' based interfaces - its the right amount of skeumorphism for me. And the sounds are very very good.

Another great video and great timing as I was just looking into upgrading. I feel like the sounds aren't amazing compared to other products but as you say it is easy to use which is why I purchased it in the first place. As I am a middle of the road guitarist I just like plugging in and playing around with sounds. The Cabinet Impulse Response Loader added to your last tone definitely made it more appealing. I would honestly rather just buy a Rockman Guitar Ace Headphone Amp and add some more effects on that!

some solid naming conventions in here 😄 and some good tones, an interesting talking point is perhaps some guitarists that have only ever used plugins (ie. plug right into a DAW) and have been at the mercy of whatever UI is in place compared to what more seasoned players might compare it to and instantly think when booting something up, can't say which is easier #boomerbends e.g Guitar Rig 7 just makes me think of a rack unit/setup, (Scuffham does this as well i think) , but others are going for the patch cables style horizontal approach, given that you can do anything UI wise on a desktop would be interesting to see how that side of things develop it'll come down to user preference regardless but it's interesting to see more Digital solutions being and continuing to be developed with improvements to tone/feel

Before I was finally able to afford my way into the fractal family, I used to love the software-based solutions. I haven't looked at these though in a long time so it's refreshing to see the progress that's being made. Me personally, amplitude was my go-to over GR because of the Mesa endorsement and amps that they carried at the time. Not that I have any reason to go back but it would be kind of fun to see the progress that's been made with amplitube as well if that ever were to come up someday especially on the Mesa amps teeheeheee I remember the Mark 4 not being that bad at all in there or the rectifiers

You mentioned isotope ozone. It's been around for years and one of the most popular mastering tools/plugins. could you do a video on it? Would be great to see your work flow with it. As someone who has done some recordings, gave them rough mixes, but never mastered them, It would be an interesting video.

It would be killer for the UI if people were working with a screen in portrait mode (like many coders do). Maybe that signal flow should be a landscape oriented strip on the bottom instead...To much scrolling. I do like the graphics a lot. Just the right amount of playfulness for me. 6:20 sounds nice though.

@@brutallyremastered4255 Ye, I like it so much, that for recording I dont use my boss GT with pedal baby, or my valve amps with captor x, because TH-U sounds way way better, and it is light on CPU, unlike amplitube, which is really cpu intensive and sounds bad to me. LOL. TH-U all day, if i m using studio audio monitors. Take care bro ;)

I used Guitar Rig 5 back in the day, and I have to say- it's stupidly easy to use, and had more than enough options for me, even back then. This is a very underrated piece of software.

I don't get it-from a Mesa LSS through a UA Volt 4, I have to turn all trebles and Presence off within a 5 mile radius and it still sounds like a helicopter full of Ming vases crashing through the Conservatory window. ✌🏾

Great to see you review this kickass plugin. Is version 7 worth the upgrade from 6? I did record a full song recently using only gr6 for guitars and was overwhelmed by the sheer number of effects and tones I could get. Contemplating whether I should get gr7 or not. Thanks

The truth is, (almost) all ampsims *sound* great nowadays. There's still an issue with "not feeling right", which boils down to used preamps, interfaces and headphones/monitors and cannot be baked into the modelling of the amp. With right (high quality) gear all modern amp sims sound and feel awesome. Period.
