I think a lot of people judge how good this unit is by the presets but there's so much flexibility. Once you're able to dial in your own custom tones. The sound will blow you away.

FANTASTIC demo! Pretty much every modeler’s presets seem to be just soaked in effects. Being able to hear the amp sims in relative isolation from all of that really demonstrates that the GT1000 is more than capable of producing great guitar tones. Leon, good info. I think it's at the point now where some devices model so much stuff, you're now getting so many things you'd probably never or rarely use. I think the Boss choice here is interesting because most of us want a good clean, slight breakup, crunch and a good amount of gain with effects. Looks like a good way to go if you don't want to get hung up on having to have a specific model name. Most devices will get you these sounds now.

I've had the GT 1000 for a few days and what I've noticed is that, granted you have the proper "output select" set, it disquises your amp as another amp. Like most amp models will sound as if you Mic'd the amp you are modeling in another room and are monitoring it on your Amp. Which definitely works better on a PA. But if you tell the GT1000 that you are going through an amp and tell it what amp/amp-type you are going through, it makes your amp sound like that amp. I did a side by side between the AC30 model (going through a Vox MV50 clean on a 1x12 cab) and a real AC15. The tonal characteristics are the same. It's weird though.. At low volumes in a bedroom, you can tell that the Vox Ac15 just sounds how it sounds, but the other amp sounded as if it had some weird EQ settings going on.. It's hard to describe. Like they sounded pretty much the same, but you can tell one was just doing it's thing and one was wearing a disguise. However It's possible it's just my eyes deceiving me. Also I think in a live setting, when the amp actually gets cranked loud, it probably would feel more legitimate. Especially because I assume the GT1000 is modeling an AC30 in it's sweet spot, while I'm playing at late-night apartment levels. As far as the dynamic saturation response... When using output selections it seems like the GT1000 tries to account for real saturation from your real amp in combination with the simulated saturation in the model. In my case, I was using a Vox MV50 clean at pretty low volume, so I had a TON of headroom that the real vox ac15 did not have. This also isn't among the amps listed under Output Select, so I had to use the generic "Tube 112 Combo" Option. So it seemed like the GT-1000 model was cleaner than the vox ac15, but I think this is just because the GT1k didn't expect my "Tube 112 Combo" to have as much headroom as it does. It is silly to look at it this way.. If it sounds good, it sounds good. But if I did want it to match 99%, I could just turn up the gain on the Amp Model to compensate for the large headroom on the real amp.
@robertreynolds99614 жыл бұрын
The boss is modeling what you expect the aml to sound like ...not the actually amp. That's why boss isnt as good in my opinion...it soubds good..but each amp can only sound one-way ... Classic examples of what we think the amp sounds like.

Very nice video. Very helpful as always. You seem to be the one that has got things down with the GT-1000. However, since the new slimmed, trimmed down has hit the shores, the GT-1000CORE, I would suggest a comparison video of that one VS - hear this - the Strymon Iridium. Now, just turn off all effects from the CORE and stick to IR's and amp modelling, as CORE (as well as GTK) has mainly 3-4 amp models to choose from, and they made sure they made those few being great, as well as Iridums 3-4 models to, and the possibility to load own IR's, I think that would be a very fruitful comparison. Then all the effects, will just turn a very good icing on the cake on top of it all. Because I think the CORE will be an alternative to Iridium users, rather than wow the Helix fans over.
