That's a tough choice. I'm a lefty, so I'd need the one that was easiest to flip... so I'd probably steal your green Cu24 so I could reintonate the saddles. And, let's face it, the green is super sexy! I was lucky enough to trade what I thought was my dream guitar, a Lefty '58 Reissue Les Paul, for a 1997 Lefty PRS Cu22 and cash. That PRS is the greatest guitar I've ever played. I stuck some Suhr Thornbuckers in it and the McCarty coil tap... it's just perfect! PRS Wide/Fat necks are divine!

My favs are that Green one with the JB in the bridge, that totally hit the ball out of the park! Having said that I don’t have a guitar with a JB in it as I found them a bit much for my playing (I hope I change my mind at some point!). But, my favourite guitar you played was the Mira! Sounded vintage but could pull off AC/DC territory . I have an S2 Mira (not the core) and that’s my main guitar at the moment. I agree about it being a bit like an SG and Tele

What do you think about the PRS SE " bolt-on" and Core guitars? I like the PRS headstocks with it's straight string pull, my personal favorite headstock and necks are the small Music Man and their oilded necks are second to NONE, the Peavey and EVH Wolfies come close as does the HP2. As you would say they are absolutely Glorious!! 😄😄

Great comparison. I love hearing the different tones of each instrument. I like the look of the DC McCarty the best, but the sound of the Singlecut. However, I've been considering a Mira for a long time. I was impressed with the sound here. I dont have a PRS, I've always played Gibsons. What can I expect from a Mira, in comparison to an SG?

IMO the Mira is almost like you took a LP Jr and an SG and then smoothed everything out - the neck is the same as a PRS Custom 24 but the body is smaller and lighter. Good way to get into the core PRS stuff without spending big money.

Wrong. You're not suitable for this image. You don't even listen to the sound it's making. PRS is for people who follow a guitar maker's idea of ornament. You don't even come close to following a weird O guitar maker. PRS guitars only work in PRS amplifiers. Your sound has NO bass to the bridge pickup. The bridge is supposed to sound like trebles. So if you're guitar has no bass to the bridge pickup sound, then the audience can't hear the low E string. This is a natural Marshall problem. But you've added to this by using a non compatible electronic system product. The rest of your notes are all mid range tones. If they're mid range, what does the middle sound do? You've destroyed the mids sound. If your trebles are all mids, you've got LoFi sound. Marshall is HiFi. So you've wasted your time and money buying HiFi products. Nobody can hear LoFi past the 8 row. PRS makes sense plugged into PRS amplifiers.

I wasted so much money on Fenders, Gibsons, Schecters, Ibanezes, and Peaveys till I finally bought a Paul Reed Smith: a cherry-red Singlecut on which I swapped its stock pickups for Seymour-Duncan "Pearly Gates." (I never heard the originals, so they may be quite decent, for all I know.) I've sold or given away (to my son, a better guitarist than me) all my other guitars, except for a Les Paul, which serves only as a backup guitar, never played anymore. [My amps, too, evolved from Fenders, Peaveys, and Marshalls to Mesa Mark V, used on the Mark iv setting.] Now I have the right set-up and can play pretty well, but I'm old, have arthritis and carpal tunnel, rock is largely dead, and the pandemic has all but stopped live music in my area. Oh, well, it's been fun getting here only to get off the ride and wonder what could have been if I had found PRS and Mesa long, long ago. Watching you play your 245 inspires me to get out my PRS. Your 245 sounded best, but for me you have too much delay, chorus, or reverb on it. I like Stevie Ray's tone: just loudness itself, which creates its own echo effect as it bounces off the walls, no matter how distant. A highly contrived tone sounds, well, false; it lacks real power, which it traded off for a tinny falsetto, not the real deal as we heard on Clapton in Cream or Pagey in Led Zeppelin. (I know they used a few pedals, but not a computer-generated orchestra.)

I was a big ESP fan in the 90s because of James and Kirk so I ordered a custom explorer from Japan. It was really nice but I had a roomate that used to say you should have gotten a PRS. This was 1994 and we lived in the Washington DC area where PRS is located regionally. They were popular there. I purchased a Standard 24. As soon as I held it I knew I loved it. It's the neck and the pickups. They are just phenomenal guitars and I say this coming from years of playing them as I now own 7 of them. I have a Grainger 4 string bass, a Pauls Guitar, a Tremonti single cut custom, a hollowbody II piezo, a Mira, and a SE starla, and a 25th Anniversary custom 24 with maple fret board. I will not buy another brand of guitar. I also did this with the Fractal audio. After all these years, someone has a really good product and I embraced it fully. Unlike most people, I delve deep into things I purchase to get my money out of it. PRS and Fractal Audio are top of the line! I am a fanboy from experience. Everyone who has played a PRS or Fractal always walks away saying good things.

You’re spot on when you say PRS guitars are work horses, my custom 22 is still rocking and has been my number 1 for almost 20 years. Bought it brand new in December of 2001, like your blue custom 24, mine has the Mc Carty switching also but came with the old school winged locking tuners, I’ve always loved the look of those tuners. I do regret not taking a real opportunity about 12 months after purchasing the custom 22, to purchase a spruce top hollowbody, it felt great, it sounded great, it played great. Sadly they don’t make the spruce top versions anymore, I still look forward to the day I have a PRS hollowbody, just not sure exactly when that will be.

Hey, wow, so nice... Dude I miss my McCarty but I'm a singlecut guy. Do you find the double cut McCarty can sound as big, full and chunky as the Singlecut or SC245,, etc.? I surprised you prefer the Mc arty over the SC for hard rock and grunge. Is it the McCarty pickups? If so, I could always update the pickups. What do you like about the 245 over the other SC models like the longer scale 294, Tremonti, older singlecuts from thr 2000s. You like the shorter scale and vintage pickups?
@LeonTodd2 жыл бұрын
Lots of tonal overlap, but I use each guitar for specific tunings/styles so I tend to just stick with them that way. The McCarty has been around Australia and the USA a few times, as has the SC245 while the blue CU24 toured with me in Europe from the south of France to the Nordic countries and held up like a champ!

@@LeonTodd Good to know! She's a beautiful guitar. I had a 2003 that rocked. Pickups were fat and grungy when drive. If I ever thought about buying a Les Paul, I would just get a PRS and end up with more. Why settle for less? LOL

@@LeonTodd Really nice! But I actually prefer the look of the double cutaway custom 24. Very sexy! Thanks!

I'm currently in talks with a Buddy that has 2 Single cuts, A Trans Black Chevroned Flame top and The first Silverburst PRS did. I'm going to end up with one of them. On a side note my same buddy thinks my 2017 Les Paul Custom is the Shit!!!

I'm really wanting to get a PRS McCarty 594 single cut. It has replaced the Les Paul custom in my heart because I feel like the sound of PRS guitars is more balanced and clear. I still believe Les Paul guitars still have their place but I don't think the sound is as versatile as I use to think. I really enjoy your passion for PRS guitars and how detailed you speak about them and yet you explain it in a compact response.

The SC for sure is my favorite here :-) .. and I think in most other videos I've seen as well. They are all killer guitars but seems to me that guitar in your hands is where some special mojo is.. Keep up the good work man!

I'm loving the blue one with the split coil feature. I'm an inch away from doing a split coil mode on my original run Nuno Bettencourt Washburn N4.

I’d like to try that nccarty but I’ll probably use either custom 24 the most. The trem and the 23rd and 24th frets I may not use all the time but it’s nice to know they are there

Great video and guitars. At that stage, it is PRS that should state that they are sponsored by you... ;-) Ps: could you tell us which string gage you use for those low tuninigs?

Hahaha! Strings are Elixir Nanoweb 10-52

I have a Custom 24 SE that I love. It is the ltd edition with the roasted maple neck. So stable, so rich sounding. Awesome guitar.

Absolute beasts! I only own a measly 2 PRS's but I love them both dearly. One's a cherry sunburst Custom 22 that's a great all-rounder but I am planning on putting a Duncan Custom 5 in it. Other is a Tremonti sig that's stock that I got silly cheap 👌 Awesome video as always dude!

What's kind of funny and I couldn't help but be struck by it, is the all-of-a-sudden big auditorium concert sound with reverb and echo when you play the guitar.
