whoever you are we are connected in our souls. I have said exactly what you have just said for the last 10 years.
She did it to me again. She is responsible for my love of opera. Almost 40 years ago I was 14, I had no idea about opera. I thought opera singing was the jackal screaming. Then I heard her singing the aria "Tacea la Notte Placida" on an old gramophone record. Her voice touched high tones, I was shocked by the beauty of her voice "My God, who is she? She's fantastic! Leontyne Price". She got me. It's still the same, I am still shocked hearing her. She is not a soprano, she is a hunting weapon. Once she gets you, it is forever.

You have missed the flawless technique, the incredible breath control, the restrained emotion, the hitting of the centre of the sound with unfailing accuracy (incredibly difficult and achieved by very few) and the fact she doesn't appear to have any bridges (moving from one octave to another) or she does have them but has learned to disguise them superbly. Talking about octaves, she has 4 and equally strong in all of them (fantastically rare) she is a mezzo, dramatic and collaratura soprano all in one.
