It is probably incorrect to compare these tanks. But that’s it - this “Leopard vs. T-72” battle will make a difference in the russian war against Ukraine.

Good training of the crew is important, whoever enlightens the target first can destroy it earlier and win the fight. together with bradlys, cv90/marder tanks this is very dangerous for the russian orks. the bradly tanks have more tanks in the iraq war destroyed as the abrams tanks.slava ukraine 💙💛.

UK send 14 challenger II who are very well armored and even have a tea cooker. Poland will send 14 of their own Leopard 2 P - that is the version with the fat turret. Germany sends 14 good looking Leopard 2 A6 which already have the longer cannon .

Both Leopard 2 PL and 2 A6 also have water boilers (not to mention climatization, additional power generator, top of the notch thermovision, separate- but integrated with the cannon -observation tools for the commander and for the gunner and other jaw-dropping little things for a tanker who previously served on russian tanks.) When we compare Russian and German tanks designed in the same time, its like to compare mercedes with lada.

What Ukraine needs most is laser anti air, because the “Patriot” anti air will likely be targeted by Russian hypersonic missiles. Lasers can intercept those (they fly very fast), and also ground Russian drones.

Dunno if the Leo is the fastest modern MBT, since pretty much all heavier modern tank vehicles seem to land at around 17kw/t. Thus they are all pretty much the same. When you look at a 2A4 with the flat turret front and the A5-7 with the v-shaped front, mind that thats still the very same turret. All that v-shaped frontpart is full pure armor, there is no space or any tech inside. But the most defining and domineering thing about an MBT is its optics and at what range the thermal can spot targets. The Leos will kill Orkz at 4km+ ranges, where the Orkz cant even see them.

the kw/t just indicates how fast the tank can theoretically accelerate, it has nothing to do with top speed. something that matters for top speed and also for acceleration is the gear box. number of gears, gear ratio, and so on. most modern MBTs are rated (or rather limited) to roughly 70 kph. I think the Leclerc has slightly more, which should make it the fastest. By the way, the V-shaped parts of the leos turret armor are hollow. their purpose is to deflect the flight path of sabot rounds that penetrated so that they hit the actual turret armor at an angle, inceasing its effectiveness. It also provides additional protection against shaped charges, but the main purpose is increased protection against KE ammunition.

A couple of mistakes: the T-80 is basically an upgraded T-64, not an upgraded T-72: and although the T-72's 125mm gu has a larger diameter than the Leopard 2's 120mm, the "power" comes from the ammunition and in this regard NATO ammunition is generally considered to have greater penetration capability (especially the US M829A3/4 APFSDS) than Russian ammunition.

even the best tanks need good crews. The strengh of such a tank is 50% tank 50% crew. I think a lot of training and experience is needed to use it effectively. It's fast and nimble like a rapier but using a sword is probably easier for a beginner.

If you see them first you can shoot them first. Simple as that. Tanks are used mainly for direct fire on infantry strongpoints and bunkers. Rather than slightly innaccurate indirect fire. Also the crew will usually survive because they aren't literally sitting on a bomb. There's a hundred ways that Leopard is better than any Soviet tank. Besides the fact they will have run out of tanks by the time Leo turns up. I saw a load of T34-85s on a train going to Russia the other day. The 34 in T34 is the year it was thought up. Nearly a hundred years ago. Slava Ukraini !

All the ideas behind the design of T-72 (T-90 is essentially a modernized T-72) turned out to be wrong. Miniaturized size was to make it harder for an enemy to aim at the tank. But on the modern battlefield with guided missiles it doesn't matter. But it decreases comfort of the crew, situational awareness and makes it difficult to stabilize the cannon. Auto-loader decreases crew member to 3 person, but it turns out that the more crew members, the better in case of repairs or other problems- and situational awareness. The placement of this auto-loader makes these Russian tanks a driving bomb, a death trap in any case of armour piercing. Reactive armour can protect to some extent against HEAT ammo, but it does nothing against discarding sabot ammo. And it also increases weight and makes it much harder to cooperate with infantry i.e. in urban combat. The engine that works with proper speed only forward (Russian "v pyeryod!") in connection with armour thickness distributed heavy on the front is the most idiotic of them all.

Keep in mind that every old tank, such as Leopard 1, is an excellent artillery gun. Though the old tanks cannot stand up against Russian anti tank weapons they remain very good, enhanced, artillery guns, that can shoot and scoot significantly better than even a well trained artillery team handling towed artillery guns. The tank can get in and out very fast. So you have to use the old tanks as cannons on wheels, and not in the way you would more modern, more heavily armoured, tanks. That means Ukraine can effectively use as many old tanks, such as Leopard 1, and Challenger 1, that it can get, as artillery guns. The difference in ammunition size can also be a blessing rather than a problem. The older tanks use smaller shells, which comes from different tooling, than the 155mm shells. So there ought to be more options for more supply compared to the increasing supply chain pressures on 155mm ammunition.

good points as leaopard 1 A5 can do the suport and mopping up roles taking out ligher armed BMPs , defending bridging operations , provide protection to the personel carriers tying down other russian armored units . in other sectors. Idealy the leopard 2 , abrams , challengers and leclercs punch through the lines and have the leopard 1 going in for mopping up operations and secruing the region . Combined with all the other equipment that is comming its a very very usefull machine . just a shame the Leopard1 A6 never got in to production .

The sabot rounds fired from a Leopard will incinerate those Russian tanks by the hundreds and the Russian tank crews won’t even know they are under attack until their tanks start exploding around them. The sabot round fired from a Leopard, a Challenger, or an Abrams is accurate beyond 3,000 meters. That’s almost two miles. Russia is finished. Done. If your curious about what an Abrams can do to a Russian tank, look what happened when the two were match against each other in Desert Storm or the 2003 invasion of Iraq.

Leopard 2 can all do better than any russian tank.... sure, we have to see which Leopard 2 Model is in the battle but as a resume... Leopard 2 will give advantage. And Ukraine will get from germany some Leopard 2A6... and this is a newer Version, with L55 gun (Leopard 2 A4 and Abrams use same german L44). L44 is also very good but L55 have more range, more penetration. Leopard can hit every target from full speed. T-72 as an example cannot and T-72 is also very bad in accuracy during driving. You cannot hit anything with T-72 from full speed and you maybe hit something if the T-72 drives very slow. But Leopard is 2 class upper.
