Yes, you're right, but i think thats because the standard quaility of a brickmania kit is so similar to each other, you kind of know what it can do. E.g you know for sure that the gun elevates or the turret turns...

1:57 120mm Smoothbore Rheinmetall. the 2A7 uses the L/55, Abrams uses the L/44, though there have been plans for later models with L/55. Only real different between the two is length

Abrams has the shorter L44 gun. The Leopard 2 series stopped using that with the A5 model. The A6 and A7 use the L55 gun.

Oh,.. Looks great! I must say that the price seems rather fair on this model. At 375$ it's only about 2x what you would pay for a same sized Lego sett. Really not bad when you factor inn all your expenses! I might actually buy this model!

A number of reasons, some having more impact than others. 1) Niche market pricing: Military LEGO is a niche market. As with any, and all niche markets, retailers add a premium for that. For cars, you're going to pay more for a fancy muffler than a plain one, even if the "fancy" one is just a different color, say blue vs black. 2) This spins into economies of scale: Brickmania releases only a few dozen of each, or maybe two hundred for something smaller (Yes I know the Beginner Builder Jeep has about 8 gazillion copies made, but that's besides the point as that's the exception). Buy anything from anywhere. You have to pay shipping costs. Because BM has no manufacturing ability of its own (BM track links are not made by BM AFAIK, they are produced by another company who actually owns the injection molding machines), they have to purchase parts from other sources. I don't know how they source their parts, but I believe BrickLink and LEGO are two primary sources. For every order, or set of orders, shipping costs are incurred on top of the price for the delivered product. Now, if there are some parts which are hard to come by, special orders have to be made just for those items. This nature of life adds to the cost. This received product must now be inventoried, stored in bins, then parted out to form kits, then completed kits stored on shelves/racks/pegs/etc waiting to be sold. Cost must be factored into the fact that inventory sits. Some inventory will sit longer, as it may be even more niche. Say a M4 Sherman and a Cromwell sit next to each other. Say, for perfect continuity, they have the same part counts, and the same total cost to acquire. The Cromwell will likely cost a bit more as it will most definitely sit idle for a longer duration than the Sherman, as the Sherman is far more renown and has more utility (You can use a Sherman in the US Military, a German Beutepanzer, a Soviet LL Sherman, a British LL Sherman, a Canadian LL Sherman, an Australian Sherman, or even Shermans from countries like Brazil, the Cromwell will not share that kind of interchangeability). To state: If more of a kit is made, the cost will likely come down as the orders can be combined. 3) Labor. Labor is the highest expense of for almost every company in the world, unless you have slaves (which is illegal just about everywhere). For every employee, they have either an hourly wage, or a salary. If someone works 40 hrs per week for 52 weeks at say, $15 per hour, that's $31,200 per year. Add on top of that labor expenses paid directly to the US Government (THESE ARE NOT THE TAXES DEDUCTED FROM THE EMPLOYEE, THESE ARE TAXES/FEES PAID ON TOP OF THOSE BY THE EMPLOYER). It literally costs money in tax form to pay someone a wage in the USA (Fun, isn't it?). I think BM has something like 40 employees (If someone could correct me, that'd be sweet) so with my "round" figure of $31,200/person, at 40 persons employed, that'd come to just shy of 1.25 million dollars. That's just in wages. Need people to sort parts, assemble kit packages, run the printers, run the advertising side, run the designing (Lando/Cody/Dan/John/Yitzy(RIP)) 4) Rent and other Property Shenanigans: Gotta pay for the building(s), the company vehicles, the marketing, the utilities, etc. 5) The profit margin: Companies have to make money on top of just paying the expenses, or else there would be no reason to have one. The people who make the prices for kits probably have at least a master's degree in small business economics. There's a method, and I guarantee you the prices for the kit are actually close to what they would be if you had your own company. People complain about airline prices. Fact of the matter is, airlines only make about 3% profit on each ticket, the rest of your ticket is fuel and taxes to Uncle Sam. Two things are guaranteed in life: Death and Taxes.
