This superb sighting of a large male leopard eating a Thomsons gazelle in a tree was filmed in the Mara North Conservancy. The leopard had several small wounds from the gazelles horns on its right flank.
It was taken in the early morning and it was a good thing that the leopard had dragged the kill up into the tree as on the ground below were a pack of hungry hyenas.
The clients were staying at the Karen Blixen Camp and had just arrived at the airstrip about 45 minutes from the camp. This sighting was the first thing they'd seen after landiing! The Mara North Conservancy lies adjoining the north east boundary of the Masai Mara Reserve.
