Leopardwood is a common tree on the opal fields at Lightning Ridge, but it has a few tricks up its sleeve including some clever survival mechanisms and a spectacular seeding process!

Thanks for sharing. You should do one on the flies everywhere. In the Nevada opal fields we dont have those little ones.

There are several sites in Victoria that have produced common opal (potch), but I’m not aware of precious opal being discovered in Victoria. There are some images online of opal in granite host rock allegedly from Glenrowan VIC, but I have some reservations about their authenticity.
