Wow Leorah, by “chance” I decided to watch today and learn of the trauma of your mother. I am in shock! I’m so thankful that she is more stable, but how stressful and terrifying for you being so far away. It brought back hard memories of my own beloved mother and my experience. Yes Leorah, that’s the best part of aging, knowing it’s ok to ask AND accept help. We are so similar and I HATE asking for help but now at almost 46 I get it, like you. Being lucky enough to get older shows us it’s ok to not be able to do EVERYTHING alone. And I’ve found I’m a better me for letting others help when I need it. 😘

Honestly, I don't know how you did it. I'm one of eight kids, but we are spread out a bit more than seven kids in just nine years! Even so, my mom was usually a bit out of her mind trying to do it all, lol, but my dad was great! He'd roll up his sleeves to help if needed as soon as he got home from work. He's 88 now and I take care of my mom during the day while he still works at our business almost every day! I get exhausted just watching him go all the time.

Absolutely true! It's like planting seeds during your lifetime and whatever grows out of them stays with your loved ones. That thought really helped me when my father passed. I started to look for these seeds and started to appreciate him even more.

I'm 42. I hate asking for help. I understand it. Also, my husband is much older than me, and so when I was younger I really tried to take on too much. It was almost like I was proving to myself and the world that I could be an adult. Apparently my definition in my head of adult meant trying way too hard to do it all by myself.

I'm just about to finish my studies to become a registered nurse myself. Here in Australia the paramedics can administer certain emergency medications - GTN, salbutamol, etc. In fact, RNs are able to initiate these medications without informing the doctor first, simply because they are emergency life-saving medications that are time-sensitive. I am saddened that paramedics in your country aren't able to do so. Do they have to complete a university degree to be qualified? If so, then they should be endorsed to administer those medications! I'm sorry to hear about your mother, and I really hope for a swift recovery for her, and for you too. Much love.

Dear Leorah, I'm so sorry to hear this. Have faith my love, God has her in her hands! I do remember watching her when she's visited you and she's a sweetheart! I know it doesn't seem like it now, but whatever happens, it is going to be ok and you (and she) will get through this. I say this bc I understand this. I had the best parents and childhood in the world, and out of nowhere, it was turned upside down when Mom was diagnosed with breast cancer when I was a kid and she later died when I was 16 (she was only 44)... and then Dad died from colon cancer. It altered my path in life and what I was supposed to be and do. Life can be so uncertain and cruel at times. As a religious family, this was hard to go through. But I just shared that to let you know that I understand that it can be so hard when something like this is happening and you don't know what the future holds. Hang in there, you're a strong lady and you're going to get through this with the help of your family and friends, irregardless of what the future holds. Your sweet Mom and your entire family are in my prayers! ❤🙏
