Both work. The 2011 theme works better as an overall character theme, but the 1999 one is appropriate for the contexts it was used in. (whenever Leorio would flirt with a woman or during dirty jokes, lol) I think the former was overused a bit, but I do like it best.

1999 = blue eyes and looks far more intelligent, hot and capable. 2011.... well. just look at 0:30 and then compare it to 2:30... 2011 ruined the characters. took their varied personalities, and made them flat, one dimensional characters with no balance or realistic personas. killua's childishness took time to appear in 1999 which makes sense for an assassin heir.. he learned from gon, he was serious but still a kid. gon was wiser, more confident, his stare felt strong, you could see his passion in how they drew his eyes and how his attitude felt balanced. he was simple, honest, full of optimism yet had a skilled ability which kept him grounded. 2011 version is just an airhead.

I don't know what it is, but the first time I heard this I thought this was part of the 'sexy' scenes, like with Baise, but after a second listen, I realized that under the sassy overture and wild saxaphone, there's this soft guitar that plays in the background that's really soothing and makes me think of home, and damn if that's not Leorio's arc in the hunter exam XD The '11 ver paints him more as this enigma, someone that's always chasing after something but always keeps his cards close to his chest, despite how much he loves and cares for his friends, he has that loud flute that distracts from the softer guitar. But maybe I'm just looking into it too much...?
