I first heard of Flora when I was listening to one of Santana's cd title "Welcome" and I heard her on the song "Yours is the light." Since then, I always wanted to know more about and I was overwhelmed to find so many great albums. I have a hard time deciding which one is my favorite.

Flora Purim is the best (jazz) vocalist ever. She is just sublime. Even better than the great billy Holliday. Nobody can match her vocal virtuosity and technique.

I hate the term "best," and I've ACTIVELY listened to Flora Purim since the late 70's and she is very talented (I had many of LP's now have may of her CD's) ...my favorite: Neusa Teresa (see kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z2fHZ5Rsa5pnj6M). I do enjoy Eliane Elias, Tania Maria, Cesária Évora and Purim all are IMO are excellent, sound like sight or any other sense is subjective. I'm grateful to have seen most of 'em in a live performance. This is coming from a non Brasilian, Afro person.
