I have this set and it is sturdy and fine for display.The only problem are the front cannons.

@@craig.9229 Yes please, I'm a huge Lego fan but discontinued sets are so expensive and that's due to the people who buy lego to keep it safe for 10 years and then sell it to someone else for a much higher price. If Lego kept an option open for discontinued Lego sets that if someone orders it that they can produce it back again but no they totally stop the production. Also Lego should get some competition imo and I hope Lepin one day gets a legal license to produce discontinued Star Wars sets for people who still want sets like that.

So on a LAAT (Republic gunship) on the 2002 version the doors have 2 parts that open, but on the 2013 version (this version) part of the door was done away with for the ball turret. So the doors are fully closed on that side. But you can add the 2nd part of the door if you want. There are tutorials on KZbin.

@@fordo6360 Indeed the motorised at at was better than the lego version. For discontinued lego sets I think lepin is a good option. Otherwise I would choose for Lego if I can and only buy lepin if they are discontinued and if you can't get them cheaper like Bricklink for example by parting out the bricks. If its still to much after you've done that then I would for sure go for Lepin. People who bought lego sets and stored them for 10years or so and then selled them back for a much higher price are the reason why Lepin is here. Lepin will get better and grow just like Lego did, don't tell me lego was good from the start. I still hope Lepin somehow gets a legal license to produce discontinued lego sets from any kind. That would be great for Lego and Lepin and defo for us people the fans. I also want competition against lego bc prices are too high these days.

Great review Gilly. The gunship looks fantastic and I really dig The new turn table. I just finished building a lepin republic drop ship with AT-OT set and it is really massive. it cost about $110 Australian (AUD) on Aliexpress. I noticed that all the ball cannons on mine are loose as well and won't stay in place. A simple remedy for this is taking any spare 'technic half pins with stud on top', and inserting​ them in the opposite or internal ball half piece in the cannon, this makes it a little tighter and allows fixed placing of the cannons.

the missiles on the top are called "Flick-Fire" missiles. you have to flick the back of them for them to fly out. Lego has since stopped making sets with theses because they are pretty bad and don't work well.
