I was there and this piece was amazing! It was even more monumental life. It was the best part of the whole concert for me. They got a long standing ovation after the concert and they all deserved it.

Thought it was awful. Tuneless and boring, not the fault of the Orchestra either, as the old saying goes ''Can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear'' ! The National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain were great doing the last performance which was ''Mambo'' from West Side Story. @@lovemetu this is the style of contemporary music though. This piece has more direction and harmony than many others, take Bartok. Try to find much "tune" in his writings. This is an incredible composition in my opinion!

Was the glass harp an attempt to replace Auerbach's use of the termen vox? I couldn't hear the wine glass, so maybe it could have been omitted. I'm not harping on this one small issue, the kids did very well on a beautiful work.

The National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain were really good on the night but this composition was rather poor. That is most likely why the music of the composer Lera Auerbach is not very well known, mainly because she is not a very good composer ! The lesson is......... ''You can fool most of the people most of the time, but not ALL of the people all of the time'' !

@@templeisland4689 I think it's interesting, but it is NOTE FOR NOTE the same as the music to her ballet The Little Mermaid. It's a condensed version, but otherwise not a single note changed.
