THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! I was able to build an amazing stand for my conure and start to finish, only took a few hours! He LOVES it. I have about 8 branches, food and water dishes, and 3 eye hooks that are hanging toys.... The one thing I did differently from yours was to cover the wooden platform base with 8 nature slate tiles that I got on clearance from lowes (1.50 each!!) so I could wipe clean any messes that dropped lol. I also had a bit of scrap moulding that I used to edge the platform

@Isurvivedthecircus7 жыл бұрын
As a guess, that looks like Australian Hardwood. It could be of the Eucalyptus genus or Corymbia. My guess is Lemon Scented Gum (Corymbia citriodora) due to the leafe size and arrangement. I could be wrong. But if you are after something similar, and bird friendly, you may also try all these from the Eucalyptus genus. Such as, Marginata, Rudis, Gomphocephala, Camaldulensis, Caesia ssp Magna. Very common in Aus. Also look into your Corymbia genus as well.

Great video! Buying these types of playground perches for birds is ridiculously expensive, and you proved how easy they are to make for very little money! Might I recommend instead of drilling a hole through the metal bowl, making a type of sturdy bowl holder, that way the bowl can be easily removed for cleaning. :D

When making anything like this, make sure you use all sizes, thick and thin in branches and twigs. It makes great exercise for their feet and they will chew it, and you can put fruit and vege on the small ones (making a couple for this purpose).

It took me so long to realize we can build one ourselves after doing research. Cuz I didn't know what wood would be ok but apple wood is second hardest and safe to maple (living in New york) my mom has so many apple trees that aren't producing apples anymore and are close to dead but plenty of healthy wood left for our use. We're gonna such a nice bird room now 😭
@leroi21421 Жыл бұрын
Great! You can start selling parrot stands😂
@leroi2142110 жыл бұрын
Martin Kavanagh - it is " practical for a large bird", with any basic common sense, if you have a large parrot such as macaw, you would build the stand with thicker branches... the stand that is shown in the video is lasting over 2 years now with an ecllectus.
@lilyds810010 жыл бұрын
What else can you use besides a drill? Superglue??
@FreeforallGhost8 жыл бұрын
anything that would make the stand/perch stable as possible.
@RainCheck7977 жыл бұрын
lily ds I think super glue would be a bad idea cause if the eat a piece of the glued wood they could get sick or die. Unless you wrap the joint with Hemp twine
