Leroy Anderson wrote many popular 'light orchestra' novelty pieces just after WWII. They were amusing and uplifting, exactly the right type of music to cheer people up in the grey years just after the war. Many pieces included sound effects (such as 'The Typewriter'). He is probably best know for writing 'Sleigh Ride' which was released in 1949/1950. I'm sure we have all heard that a few hundred times! It never ceases to make me smile.

Then you need to listen to Leroy Anderson's Jazz Pizzicato and Jazz Legato. Pizzicato means to pluck the strings, and legato means to play smoothly in a very connected way. Leroy Anderson "Jazz Pizzicato" & "Jazz Legato" kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z4mskpl-qqqCh6M

Right---but technically, it's "plucking." I used to hear a lot of Leroy Anderson on our local AM station when I was a kid, it's light and cheerful. BTW, when I first heard "Sleigh Ride in _St. Petersburg,"_ I thought, "How much snow do they get in Florida? I didn't know they got _any!"_ (I'd never heard of St. Petersburg, _Russia.)_ Stay safe.

A lot of orchestral/classical (and light-classical) instrumental music has been used as background cover for TV and radio commercials. It tarnishes the quality of great instrumental music. The producers of the commercial advertisements generally can "get away" with the practice because the music is Public Domain (there are no royalties to pay). Still ... ( in my humble opinion) It is tacky!
