I grew up in auction barns. My dad was a cattleman in Texas. A good auctioneer can make or break an operation.

I was born, raised, and still live in cattle country and have several friends that went to auctioneer school and are certified auctioneers. One of my auctioneer friends does this song and it still blows my mind every time.

Some of my favorite memories were buying cattle with my family at the auction. Always loved the horse auctions. Sometimes I was able to bid as a kids, and his song brings back good times.

I read that before he was a music performer, Leroy WAS an auctioneer, he had the spiel down long before this, so this is just what he was to begin with

My cousin still does this song at old VFW hall dances and various country bars, etc. The old folks in their best cowboy clothes still like it.

Cattle auctions were a big thing back in the day. This one I heard when I was a little older. As young boys we used to try and imitate the auctioneer song, I was not good at it at all. :)

I moved to a hick town and on Saturday night the big thing is the chicken auction, It's exactly the 1st thing that pops up in your mind. They hold up a chicken and people bid on it

While I love this little ditty, it's not something I would put on repeat by any means. In time past, I've ''clerked'' for an auctioneer. That's the guy or gal that has the ticket pad and writes each sale down as it happens. You have to be able to listen when the bids are called out and record them as quick as they are done. There are other clerks that are the information gatherers and some that are the payment takers. A number of auctions are family affairs where all of the family is involved somehow. I'm guessing the person that requested it probably wanted to see how you would react to the act of auctioneering itself.

This is an oldie, some clever singing on this. In the UK this style was called Skiffle and was popular at this time. Enjoyable track if a bit dated-Colin Ward

Gordon Lightfoot used to play this song at his live shows for some years. In 1980, he finally recorded his version on his "Dream Street Rose" album. To be honest, I never really cared for the song, but it was one of his "toe-tappers", as he called it.

This nice lady took this song way too seriously...it was obviously just a fun novelty song but the singer did have some real talent to sound like a real auctioneer for which he deserves some credit.
