I've just come across this very moving tribute. What a lovely daughter Les has. Charlotte, if you're reading, your Dad was the finest comedian this country has ever produced and everyone over the age of 45 in the UK has cried with laughter watching him. Had he been starting out now on BGT he would have won it without question. In fact I'm amazed nobody has ever entered BGT with a tribute act to Les or Cissie. Perhaps he's just too good an act to follow? Only two days ago I introduced my 22 year old daughter in law to Les, as we drove home from Piccadilly through Collyhurst, which prompted me to tell her to look him up on KZbin. She'd never heard of him sadly. By the time we got home she said to me, "Your generation are the lucky ones. You got Les Dawson whereas we've ended up with Micheal McIntyre and Jack Whitehall!" Proof that your Dad will never, ever truly die!

“By the way, I’m your dad...” classic Les Dawson But it’s heartbreaking that home footage because I do get the sense her dad knew he didn’t have long and he felt needed to do this so she’d have something of him....devastating he never got to see her grow up

One of the best comedians of his era, no doubt. A very well read man, played the piano beautifully (despite his acts) , a kind and generous man who loved his family and friends. I always ask myself why people like Les have to go so soon.

Charlotte, your dad never left you sweetheart. Even today, at this very moment, your dad is with you. You are part of him. He will never ever leave you, and watches over you. When you need him reach out to him, and you will find that he will come to you. Everybody feels that they know Les because he was a national treasure. But you are your dads treasure. He has left you only in the body, but not left you in spirit.

May I commend Les Dawsons books, especially the fiction. Someone with such a great capacity for using the English language in extremis shows his facility to use the muted, subtle tones with equal dexterity. He is famous as a stand up but should rightly be famous as one of our truly great writers. 'A square egg in a dish of lentils won't make a marrow bend with the wind, nor will it make rhubarb grow up the milkmaid's leg.'

Saw Les three times in London over three days apart before he died, some 25 years ago, I saw him present Blankety Blank at the former BBC TV Centre, then almost rubbed shoulders with him, twice in the West End of London after he had watched some shows there. WHAT A STAR. VIP Les Dawson.

The daughter definitely is not the sharpest knife in the drawer. Way too false, caked in make-up, false eyelashes, and more concerned with her appearance than anything else. Les Dawson on the other hand, was a real down to earth northern comic, and is very much, and sadly, missed, in today's world of mass manufactured shit, from the likes of BGT, X Factor and a host of other mass produced garbage television shows, that have the exact opposite effect, and instead of producing stars with talent, do in fact produce a endless stream of singing, or variety, clones, devoid of even an ounce of talent, and pass them off as very poor substitutes in place of real talented people like Les Dawson was.

You contemptible toerag. You just had to get on your keyboard and slag off a young woman you don't even know, didn't you? Poisonous inadequate that you are. Les's daughter has heart and decency - two qualities you know nothing about. Enjoy the rest of your miserable life.

Tula Rainmanian you're an idiot. Should of had 24 years which is as long as someone who was born when their father was 28 but died at 52. Which is not unusual for heat attack victims. Learn to count clown. "Old as fuck" ! Knob head.
